I access IIN by train! Or by car. I do find it quite hard to park the car on the IIN profile page, but whatcha gonna do?

Wow, what haven't I accessed it on? Desktop, laptop, tablet, Kindle, phone, PDA, I've even accessed it on one of my robots (two of them have Linux brains and will run web browsers - I was going to get a web cam, mount it on a mobile robot and let IIN users drive it around my place via their web browser and see where they were going with the cam. But I know you lot, you'll either spy on me in the shower or drive it into my leg repeatedly).

I love that you have robots. You just shot to the top of the cool list.
What do you use them for?

I haven't done loads with them yet. I've just been building them over Christmas. The best (and worst) thing I did was have one look around my kitchen to where I was holding a torch then lunge forward at me. It ran around after me for a bit (faster than I could run) then I started tricking it. I came up with some ideas to programme it to deal with all the tricks I could think of but at this point it was getting a bit Terminator 2 on me and it actually scared me a bit.

Other stuff I've done is have one of them draw, I've had them trying to produce a map of the temperature in my apartment (would be better if they flew, which they don't yet, but I have an idea about that), I've had them being Christmas lights (boring, but it was my first project to get me going). I've had two of them talking to each other (or rather passing information) and I kind of want to build one that I give a message to, it sets off to find the other one (using light sensors), then flashes the message like Morse code, then the second one receives the message and reads it back to me. It's not much use but it's interesting to me because of the multiple challenges (allowing them to find each other, getting them to "handshake" so that they can send messages, transmitting the message itself (it'll probably be binary not Morse), and the easy bit is getting the second one to speak (that bit I probably won't do myself, although I wouldn't trying).

The boring practical stuff is that I'd like to have them guard my apartment when I'm not around (and maybe send me pictures). I know I could do it with a webcam but these will be mobile and might even take instruction from me. I could have them watering the plants too. One of the robots is currently a media centre and will play HD video (although you can't pause it or fast forward or anything so it's a bit limited). I'm going to buy a reasonable amount of technical Lego at some point and more servos, motors and stuff. At that point they'll look more like robots (they look like rolling circuit boards in clear plastic cases at the moment).

But yeah, I'm having massive fun with the little dudes. I've always programmed but now I can have things happening in the real world not just on a computer screen.

OMG, the part about them chasing after you made me fall to the floor laughing. I can't get that visual out of my head. They sound like a labor of love. I wish I had the knowledge to build some little friends of my own.

Don't make them too smart, the last thing humanity needs is a bunch of self aware robots trying to harvest us like in the Matrix Trilogy.

I wish I'd have videoed it and put it on YouTube. My robots don't have proper wheels yet, just a motor that makes them lurch forward and it made a proper scary noise on my wooden floor. It was bad enough it looking for me and then coming for me but howling like a banshee and clattering while it did it? I thought I was going to have nightmares. The thing is only the size of a credit card but in some ways that made it more scary. At least it's not as scary as this:

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNXuzhop-u8

Imagine hundreds of those chasing after you and outrunning you. Eek!

Sort of all of the above. My phone isn't smart - I need a dual SIM card one - and I don't own a desktop anymore, but I access from 4 different devices. It drives me crazy. Tablet, mini-tablet, laptop, netbook. I'll often find little notes or tabs open with full replies or messages written for month-old posts on one or another. I rarely follow through with what's been left behind. :/

For instance, I have posts and written comments/replies to these posts on this one: Action or Reaction, Does Sport Shirt Color influence support?, What is your favorite James Bond theme song?; two Contribute Post; and two message conversations.

Maybe the Ouija board wouldn't let me procrastinate so much.

I don't know about you, but that would make me a little bit paranoid. Paranoid because someone might come across the device and discover my IIN O_0

Then I'd just have to kill them, now, wouldn't I?

Password-protection and eyes on devices at all times has helped prevent that so far.

Ha, Ouija Board! I only ever use that one when contacting the ghostly members of IIN.:P

I sometimes use Kindle, but now only to read, because commenting via Kindle causes me so much stress and I always end up insulting it. I love my Kindle, but I called it an intolerable rat yesterday.:( I think me and the Kindle keypad need to spend some time apart. It keeps doing this weird thing where if I move my finger on the keypad, it makes an orange squiggly line, and then comes up with random words, and I don't get it. Don't even get me started on the bloody auto-correct!

I pop on IIN using phone often, but it always takes me a little longer to comment, again because of the keypad. It's also where I get email notifications, so that's where I tend to read the replies I get. I'm using Netbook right now, which is the way I access IIN most often, just because I can type quicker on it.

Hehe! It's not just me, then. I take my Kindle to bed with me and I sometimes used to use IIN with it. I do love my Kindle but it and IIN do not mix. At least it's just about usable, though. Don't ever in a million years try to use Hotmail with a Kindle. It's like trying to paint with a bag of spanners.

I am typing this reply with Kindle (ugh!) just to demonstrate the evil orange squiggly line! Here is the bastard line in action:

city just fun jagged ingress deck link hedges nothing highly one jug seed opinion Freddy Jeffrey kimono Jeff Hoyerjagged junk.

See what I mean!? Gibberish! The bloody fiend is driving me bonkers! Why orange line!?

      • Has your kindle always acted this erratically? I would go nuts if my tablet did that. You should try downloading this app called "GO keyboard"
Maybe it will help you. Good luck

Yes. I think the orange squiggly line is supposed to be there, though.:S I don't understand why! I only get the orange line if I squiggle my finger around on the keypad, fortunately. The biggest pain for me is the auto-correct.

Ha, yes, there was:P. I don't know why I didn't bother looking for it earlier, I assumed that there was one, like with most other devices. So, thanks for mentioning it and reminding me. You're a star!:D
