How do you choose what you'll be when you grow up?

I'm having trouble with choosing a right college plan or course of action to take with my future education or employment. I'd like to see others input on resolving their career choices.

  • Go both by best paying jobs and what you enjoy doing the most. Nothing is worse though when you hate your job..

Most of the time your friends and family don't know crap about what you would succeed in, so I wouldn't go with that. Well having a really good paying job that you hate is terrible, and having a job that you enjoy doing but doesn't pay enough to put food on the table isn't so good either. So I think you should find a middle ground. Look for jobs that you would enjoy doing, and find out how much money you would make. Then decide based on what job would provide enough money to support you, while also enjoying what you do, because you have to work everyday, might as well enjoy it.

You have to be realistic in this situation. Not every job you think you will enjoy means that's the job for you. Balance is key.
Find something moderately entertaining, good benefits, nice pay, and people you don't mind working with. Too much of one thing, causes slack in all other aspects

YOu never know, you may study for anthropology and never get a job , and end up as teacher aid. Go to college and have 2 opcion: Study what you really like, or choose something you may get a job.

Life will turn its way somehow. it depend on you. You want money get something to reach that, even if you don't enjoy it (you may have a hobby that complete the gap) or you may go for something you really like, ... somehow you will get a job (necessity make the path)

Life is long, and what you think now, it probably change in 10 more years.

You should do something you find interesting or you are a passionate no this does not mean something you enjoy necessarily as you may get bored or tired of it but is you do something that you are passionate about and I mean really passionate then you will want to get up as you know know you are doing it for a reason

One of my friend's dad is a stock analyst who brings home crazy amouts of money, I'm talking two houses on Long Island, a Porsche Cayenne, the works. He inspired me to go into business and economics. It's a rough field with a lot of competition, but I know I can stand up to scrutiny and rise above my peers. Screw taking it safe and getting a job with security, because job security doesn't exist today. I'd rather be responsible for my own success rather than expect a company to be my mommy and daddy then blame them when they go under.
