How do you define "sex drive"?

I've always considered myself to have a high sex drive because I masturbate multiple times a day, but I'm no longer sure that's the same thing.

Does it only count if you're driven to have sex with other people, as opposed to just wanting to have an orgasm? What is it called otherwise? Is the breeder with a thousand kids over a hundred partners the gold standard of sex drives, or is it possible to have a high sex drive with just one partner?

(I know there's overlap in the poll choices, just want to get an idea of what you think the *main* part of having a sex drive results in.)
Picture in your mind someone with a super-duper high sex drive. When you think about this person, are they:

Completely lacking in self control 2
Extremely horny, but not necessarily being pushy about it 4
Having lots of different partners or participating in orgies, but not necessarily every day 0
Other 4

its like 0-60 in x number of seconds. if you can go from "not horny" to "throw me against the wall and put a brick through my skull while you fuck me ragged" in under 10 seconds then you win the Sex Drive

I agree with SandR, but go a little further by saying masturbation does not define high sex drive it's a lot of times the remedy or solution people result to.

If the person to person can't be satisfied then they satisfy the urge themselves.

One problem is it can be counter productive. The human brain is unbelievably gifted with imagination and can cause a person who masturbates a lot to have an even harder time finding a real person who can fulfill that imaginary sex life/drive.

It’s just the urge to orgasm, which comes from the very basic urge to breed that all life has. That is the point of both masturbation and sex, the same thing at their core. If you want to cum often you have obviously got a high sex drive, pretty simple.

Sex drive to me is the drive to have sex with another person but some asexuals masturbate a lot and they do not want to have sex with another person, and they claim that sex drive is unrelated to asexuality. I guess it's personal opinion.

I wish my sex drive was lower. Without sounding too dramtic it causes a bit stress if you dont have time very often to relieve it. You waste so much time with sex or jerking off where you could be working out or working more hours. If you have a busy schedule it causes you to get less sleep because you have to jerk off like an hour.

I didn’t vote because it means different things to different people. I’ve heard others say they’re attracted to no-one yet call their desire to masterbate their “sex drive”. I personally define it as “desire to engage sexually with another person or persons” but don’t feel that’s unanimously accepted as the “correct” meaning.

    • You can always vote "Other"!
I know what you mean, and reading about people with a lack of attraction is part of why I asked the question. I've read about people who identify as asexual where some say they have a sex drive and some say they have no sex drive.

I think your definition is generally the more accepted one, but separating masturbation from it sounds strange to me.
