How do you feel about a de-aging elixir?

I wish that scientists and doctors could create a formula that lowers your age by a year over a varied course of time.

Here's an example. You're 60 years old but you want to be 20 again. In a course of 40 years, you would be 20 again. Basically, whatever age you currently are, you can choose how much younger you get.

If people should age, then we should be able to extend our time frame of youth to counter-balance all the decades of senior-hood (60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 100s). Unfortunately, we're older a lot longer than we're young. :(

I think it would be a good idea and invention 16
I think it would be a bad/poorly used idea 4

However, can I stop de-aging at 42, please?

Sounds great and bad at the same time.
Bad, cause if everyone would live 150+ years, the planet would become too overcrowded. There won't be enough resources. Then we have all the shady characters that would control the "youth potion" market. In general such an elixir would cause more problems, than it would solve.

If we had the technology to go out into space and colonize new worlds, I am all for it. Let everyone enjoy a long, young life. But here and now in an all ready problematic wold...

I'd pick a selfish option, for that I apologize. But pretty much everyone else would pick this too... Have enough elixir for me and my loved ones.

What do people have against life? No, i may hurt at times, but fuck that. I do not want to be 20 again. It wasnt a bad year, i am just content with aging and growing old.

I think we as a species are ready for this, but here are some issues to think about.

-No retirement age. You would never be able to retire because you couldn't afford to stop making money. Some people who invest smart could do it, but not the average Joe.
-Very few children. This is good or bad depending on your out look. I don't know if I want children so an infinite amount of time to decide would be nice.
-Massive medical bills. Medicine is already fairly expensive. Imagine what it will be like when you aren't investing in your life but in your eternity.
-Dictators who live forever would rule forever. In the US we have a president who is elected. Not every country has that.
-Depression over what to do with all the time. I don't think I would have a problem with this, but you can bet on seeing new adds for antidepressants for people with lives that will never end.
-An increase in suicides. Not everyone wants to live forever. When you have the body of a 20 year old and the mind of an 80 year old you may find that waiting another life time to die is too much.
-What would this do to murder? What is a life sentence when you never die? Would you allow prisoners to take the elixir, and if not, is this not a form of the death penalty?

Those are just the issues I can think of off the top of my head. Given all of that, I would still say do it. Dying is a very barbaric act that needs to stop. More people die from age related ailments then everything else put together. There are even entire religions created around feeling better about our imminent demise. For a more enlightened society, we should end aging. Death itself could be the first horseman to die.

I think it's kind of weird. We shouldn't be so fearful of aging, you know? What about the side-effects? It's an interesting idea, one that would be ripe for a sci-fi plot. You should consider doing something with that idea, OP.

It'll suck because you have to lie to everyone about your age, and no one will ever believe you.
