First, I mugg them. Then I run. Then take the money, ditch the belongings, and come back. I then apologize for being late, explaining that I was just organizing a fund-raiser for homeless birds. They then inform me that they don't know who I am and they'd like their belongings back, and please put some clothes on, for goodness sake! And then I pout.

    Every friend, every time.

  • Well, to be honest, we joke around before doing it. When I was in the same area as my friend, there was this big long sidewalk that we ended up seeing each other while still needing to walk five minutes before getting to each other.
We would walk, then flap our arms around pretending to be "thugs",, but in a moronic way, doing the whole "gangstah walk", and so on, then just walk past each other and be like..."Hey", then continue walking past each other. Then turn round and go "Ahhhhhhhhhhh" pointing at each other. He was a fun crazy guy like that.

Well, I think it depends on the situation. For instance, if my friend recently lost a loved one, I would greet the person with a hug. If I was in a different country, and it was a custom to kiss on cheeks, then I would do that. If I were meeting someone new or greeting someone at a funeral, I would shake hands. If...Well, you get the idea.

Used to kiss girls on the cheek but my girlfriend is jealous and do not need to start some argument. I only kiss family on the cheek now. Male friends we shake hands or "pound" knuckles.

Since I'm a girl, sometimes I hug my best friends if I haven't seen them for awhile. Otherwise, I just say something aloud like hi or something.

My old best friends mom always comes up and does the cheek kiss with me. I've known her all of my life so I guess it's normal. Plus she's Puerto Rican and they're big on that kind of greeting. (Where I'm from, at least)

But with everyone else, it's a verbal greeting.

Hug with loud "How's it going you little piece of shit?"

All of the above, depending on the friend.

I greet them verbally. If a hug is offered, I'll hug, but I try to be conscious of whether or not the other person is comfortable with hugging.

Sometimes, if I see a friend I will stand directly behind them - about a foot away - and wait in deathly silence until they somehow detect my presence. Then we say "hi" and maintain an awkward pause.

In other cases there are hugs. It depends on the person, their mood, the setting and who sees who first.

Depending on the situation, I invariably greet my friends with either "You got the money?" or "You got the stuff?"

I'm from the Southern US and I have this weird version of "howdy" that I say that sounds like "Hi-dee". It's either that or "hey", "sup", "how're you doin'..." or something like that.

      • MissyLeyneous

Kentucky, but it's not a state thing or a southern thing... it's a me thing. I'm weird even by a southerner's standards.

(I do consider myself a redneck though, but my definition of redneck is a blue-collar, hard worker. "Redneck" literally came from where people would get sun-burnt on their necks and upper backs from where they worked outside so much.)

I am not trying to be a dick or anything. But where I live we don't consider Kentucky to be a southern state.

For some friends, a hug, for some friends it's a simple "Hello :D" some friends get a very loud hug and dance "IT'S YOOOOUUUUU!!!!" or a customized one "HELLO 4TH MORMON HUSBAND!" with a hug. Depends on the person.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Some I hug and some I just use words because they'd get angry if I gave them a hug (they're the rough'n'tough type). Acquaintances will get a handshake and a warm smile. Sometimes I just wink at people. ;)

It really depends on the friend. All of them get hugs. Sometimes introductions to new friends call for a hug. And a few get both mouth or cheek kisses, depends on how off the aim is.

    "Yo, bitches! What's up?"

Kiss on the cheek and hug. Males and females. Children and adults. Close or not so close, if I like them. If I don't, I'll still give a kiss on the cheek, after I already hugged and kissed the others. I'd find it extremely rude to just not do anything.

Most of my friends are huggy people. So hugs it is. I've gotten good at not cringing.

Not so close friends, just a 'hey' is good enough. I prefer that.

Females: Hug and a kiss on the cheek
    Straight males: Handshake
    Gay males: A hug

I'd hug the straight males too but they seem uncomfortable with it.
