How far north, south, west and east have you been?

How far east, west, north and south have you traveled to?

This could get interesting based on various user locations. For me personally, the furthest east I've been is Cooperstown, NY. The furthest west I've been is Columbus, Ohio. The furthest north I've been is the Georgian Bay, Canada. The furthest south I've been is Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!

I'm looking forward to your replies!

North: Copenhagen, although I started in Seattle and flew over the pole to get there.

East and South: New Zealand, south island

    West: Hawaii.

If I ignore the international date line the farthest west I've been would land me in China and the furthest east lands me in Jordan.

    Starting point: west coast, US

How was Jordan? Did you see Petra? I'm tempted to visit Jordan and Lebanon.

My trip to Petra was half the reason it was so memorable. We managed to find ourselves caught in a fluke snowstorm. We were going to ride donkeys into the city but due to snow, they wouldn't let us. So we went on foot. It is a rather narrow passage into the city and with all the snow melt we ended up walking in ice cold water for half a mile or so. It was up to my knees. And then we couldn't see much of the city once we got there. So we hung out in Moses City with a bunch of stranded tourists and had snowball fights with the shop keepers.

It was a school sponsered trip, for music. I was a part of my college symphony. And my group ended up being the evening entertainment for all those stranded as a result of a desert snowstorm. It was chaos, but so much fun. We needed to practice so we did so in the hotel lobby. When we got home we received several letters of thanks from the hotel patrons who were delighted to have something to do.

East would be Paris (although I don't know if this counts because I was unborn). Failing that, I've been to the most northerly, southerly, and westerly points of both England and Great Britain (but not Britain or the UK). I've been within a mile of the most easterly but couldn't convince my family to go there.

When things are better financially, I'll either sail to New York City, or get the train to China. Or both.

Um, obviously you need to come to NYC. Also, I told all these fuckers I'd go to the (likely) stupid yet hilarious IIN opera if you flew out and went with me.

      Lets do this shit, daps.

I'll meet you at the theatre. You're going to have to wear something noticeable so that I recognise you, though. See-through clothes, maybe?

It's not boring in your house? Hmm... you mean... you and I could... you know... play Monopoly. :P

Always welcome to come visit me in the Midwest/border line south. Can't say there is to much to do in the terms of art and culture but there are southern belles, sweet tea and lots of beautiful country. Road trip perhaps. Tour the American South and Midwest sampling the fine cuisine and liquor.

Oh, definitely. All the states traditionally known as the Midwest seem like they're the real heart of America to me (in the same way London isn't really representative of England but other parts are). Interesting country!

I'd definitely like to. The thought of sailing into New York and first the skyline appearing in the distance and finally the Statue of Liberty and then being in the middle of it with all those yellow cabs and accents. It's a bit of a dream.

But then so is getting a train in my own city, travelling through Europe to Moscow and then Moscow-Beijing via places I never dreamed I'd visit like Novosibirsk, Ulan Bator, and Siberia. Plus you can carry on through Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and get right down to Singapore. A third of the world away without every leaving the ground. :D

        • Eventually, if we sail back to the states, I'd like to see New York from the water as well. I've only been from land. The train holds a great deal of allure too... I so badly want to sail to Europe, but with the Schengen regulations saying you can stay a total of 90 days, and then you have to leave for 90 days... I haven't quite figured out how to accomplish that. We're not going to be able to get through all of Europe in 90 days (particularly after a 30 day ocean crossing)and heading for the African coast doesn't seem real smart at this point in time. I'll get there though... somehow I'll make it happen. :)

Hmm, what about the Canary Islands? Technically Africa but more realistically Spain. If you spent two weeks on each island, that'd get you close to 90 days. :)

            • The Canary Islands are unfortunately a part of Spain and also signed with the Schengen Agreement. :( If you get any other ideas though, I'd love to hear them! :D I've been looking into it a bunch even though it's a couple years (realistically) away. We still have South America and the Western Caribbean to explore. I have sent off an inquiry as to whether we could somehow obtain an extension on that since we live on our boat (and it was implied that it the stay could be lengthened in certain cases, but not specified which cases)... and am awaiting a response (if we get one, haha).

My southernmost and most easterly travels have taken me to Australia, and the most southerly and westerly city I visited was Sydney.

My west and north locations are much less impressive. Gran Canaria, one of the Canary Islands, is my furthest west. My furthest north is worse, and hasn't even taken me out of my own country: Liverpool. I've flown over Finland and Russia on the way to Australia before, but not landed so I won't count it.
