A couple months if that, that's pennies. Where I live rent is 2.5k-3k a month. How do you expect to live off $10k for years? I don't think even the cheapest states could do that. There's gas, food, phone bill, water bill, etc and then that's on top of rent

If I didn't have to pay rent, buy groceries or gas then I wouldn't even need the 10K.

I’m pretty frugal these days, quite minimalistic. So if I stayed put, quite a long time. I think it’d go faster once I started travelling.

With the amount of useless shit I buy less than 2 years. Probably will just add it to my down payment for a house.

Rent paid for = live in a mansion, sublease to a bunch of people

Gas paid for = mansion has a massive gas storage tank in the back, fill that up and sell at a discount

Groceries paid for = food storage warehouse next to mansion, again sell at a discount

You would obviously set yourself up for a failure in a few months.

I honestly can't imagine that scenario. I've been paying for things ever since I graduated high school and started working back in 2006. I assume I'm unemployed in this scenario? Who the heck is paying for my house, car, food, and other shit in this scenario? My boyfriend is a teacher. He isn't swimming in that kind of dough. My parents are broke, so it can't be them. If I'm not paying for essentials what am I paying for? Since you only said gas for the car, am I paying for car repairs? Do I also pay for house repairs? Am I allowed to splurge on fancy chocolates? What about video games?

It wouldn't support me very long.

If everything else is being paid for then I'd still manage to dwindle it all in about 2 years just on things I want and dont really need. I'm a shopaholic so naturally, I would find a way xD

rent, gas and groceries are the major part of my expense, if I had to only buy what I wanted a long time

If I quit drinking then a year or two because a few years ago I got fired and had $13,000 in my bank. Rent was $860 insurance $140 and none stop alcohol for about 5months. I only had $1000 lefted before good by homeless or moving in with my mom.

With property tax, school tax, heat, water, electric, home owners insurance, car insurance, car maintenance, cable/internet bill, I would say maybe a year. probably less.

Live, probably unlimited, you have food and shelter, however, if we are maintaining current living status, with phones, utilities, insurance, taxes, car upkeep, wants and desires, then maybe 6 months to a year max.

Not even 2 years. Wouldn’t be able to cover my mortgage.

When I lived with my dad after high school I had no rent and basically no expenses except gas, and I had enough money left over from each paycheck to save up about 5k in a few months.

I'd still be paying for gas/electric, phone, internet, car insurance, trash, water, and online subscriptions. Not to mention my car payment. I'd be lucky to make that last a year. But if you're giving it away, I wouldn't say no.

Well that just leaves the electric bill wich is about 30 bucks soooo if I did the math right 27.777777 years. But I'd invest half of it on volatile stock so likley I'd be set for life

I’d probably use it as investment.
