For social media, gaming, dating sites, etc. How much information about yourself can be too much to strangers online?
I have this problem a lot but I don't give out my home address, phone number, social security, mail address, etc. That is literally my limit there so I am fine with talking about anything else that doesn't expose my identity.
As long as you don't give out your address, town or full name or Facebook, you're good.
General location (e.g. your country or even state) should be OK. Maybe your first name, but give only to those who you trust.

I'm a pretty private person, so anything that could be identifying about me stays offline for the most part.
As long as you dont tell them your childhood nicknames. Its important to share your mother's maiden name, social security number and all that jazz though. Secrets are fod silly Willie's.
If you like you can tell me your bank account details in case something happens to you I can keep an eye on your account for you :)
Fake name, fake birthday, fake town, stupid email adress, my Facebook is just lies. Employers and stalkers will never find me. Regrettably there are a few tagged pictures of me on there which I hesitate to untag incase they get lost.
I share more things about myself online than I do in real life, just not anything that could make someone recognise me in real life.
To be honest I share more things about my personal life than I share with my actual friends. Pretty neutral ground here, good for tasty discussions.
I dont share my location with any apps. Google and samsung know where I am but that was in the contract so I cant complain when I clicked: I accept the terms of service.
Now it's up to the average joe to post where they are to their internet friends and splurge on their personal thoughts. Suppose if I write a book in the future and you find a charicter named lloyd asher you can probably be certain that the author is real me.
