How old were you when you got your first cellphone ?

I'm just wondering . I'm in my late teens and my dad is contemplating getting me one , and I think it's just a lost cause because when I turn 18 I think I should be paying for my own stuff / he'll just take it back anyway .

I got my first cell phone at about 14-15, which was later than most people I knew. However, I was working and helped pay for it myself, so my situation was a little different. Very young kids with high-tech phones bother me. Don't use that "it's for protection/safety purposes either." A truly responsible parent knows about and can look after their child without getting them a phone.

I think I was about eleven. That was back in 2003/2004. I had an old Siemens. That thing was as durable as a brick!

I was 18, got a $30 LG Net 10 prepaid with internet. Still have it now. Works great, and its pretty damn tough, Not like my moms Galaxy S3, one 5 ft drop later, cracked it.

17, and I get the used phone from my mom. :P
After that she bought me the new one, I lost it. I buy new one with my own money. Then I change it with sony ericsson with the money I got from working :). It last until now. I think I'm content if I buy my own phone.

Your poll doesn't go high enough. I was 28 when I got my first cell.

I bought it on September 14, 2001, three days after 9/11.

I hadn't really felt a need for a cell prior to that. I was living in the barracks and had a land-line after all. However we were on a "four hour recall" which meant that wherever we were, we would have to be able to get to the ship within four hours.

So that meant I'd have to keep the landline open... or have a cell phone. So I bought my first cell.

I was 11 or 12. And it was just for me to able to call home. I didn't really call anywhere else.

I got my first phone at around 4th grade. It wasn't fancy (it was a camshell phone) nor really that useful. My parents got it for me so contacting me or me contacting them would be much more convenient.

I was 24 and work paid for it.

  • I got mine at like 10-11 and I was the latecomer. I felt like a bit of an outcast but I was already though anyway because its not like I had friends to call during those times.

Ahh, young people. I got one about ten years ago, so I was about 21, 22. I got my daughter a cheap pre-paid when she was 8 or 9. In case I was running late to pick her up at school or something

Any wave is cancerous but the cell phone wave just has a very small chance of doing so. So small that it would probably not affect anyone unless they spent thousands of hours sat on it.

In college my physics teacher explained it was said that they were cancerous simply because some people didn't agree with them and exaggerated the cancerous bit.

But it may be cancerous, this is just what most people who study physics think...

Good question. It is the same question plenty of oncologists are going to ask after it will turn out cellphones radiowaves are indeed cancerous. Especially for the brain. I was nineteen and I bought it because I needed it to keep in touch with a hooker. It was one of these cellphones you can now find in laundry detergent boxes as an incentive to buy the laundry detergent. One of these cellphones you can now buy for a few bucks at a backyard sale.. Back then it costed me 10 months of allowances. Definitely a bad investment.
