How should i plan to change jobs?

I've decided to change jobs. I was getting overtime working at different stores and it's getting too unreliable to maintain hours

I kept UPS as a backup plan, but there are no openings right now. I found a warehouse that pays like 16 an hour that purportedly lives offering overtime. I want to apply and do a two week notice, but I want to make sure I budget myself correctly

All my bills for this month are paid, I already got my stimulus. I have two more checks this month and rent and car payment for next month I already know will need to be paid for out of these checks. Ultimately though, I'll have about 1700 in bills for February

I still need to apply and I'm gonna give a two week notice. I'm also gonna be getting a couple detox kits and a drug test (to make sure it works)

But I don't wanna start and wind up behind

Originally I was hoping to use this upcoming check for personal stuff, but due to my sudden uncertainty I'm unsure of what I can or should get. I think I can set up private dental insurance still and work on my teeth. I'm unsure if I can still get a cat. It's weekly pay at the warehouse so I'll only have to wait two weeks for a check instead of a month which is nice

I can probably calculate this out when I get home, but it's slow at the store I'm working at now so I figured I could get some perspective

My last check this month should at least basically cover rent on the first at least, then I need to pay my car payment out of the next check I guess and save the rest, but I think I would only need to do it like that if I was starting in like a week or so.

Since I'm so caught up, would it be possible to use this money to get some things? Originally planned on using this check for a cat (400 bare minimum), start dental insurance (it said 45 ish per month, not sure if there are up front costs or anything like that), fix my car up some (I think they said a couple hundred for brakes but I think he coulda overestimated to try to hurry the call), and some household stuff like a toaster oven, crock pot, glasses, silverware, plates or whatever

Maybe I can plan it like, get some of this stuff I need and then pay bills early again like I did last month and get ready to change jobs. If I do lose hours I can go back to selling plasma which I haven't had time for because I have been getting decent hours, which would definitely help

I do wanna get this cat and dental work started, my teeth are starting to hurt again and I really want a cat if I'm gonna be like stuck at home for a few days to recover (lotsa extractions)

I can definitely afford it all if hours are maintained, I was told this new manager at the store I'm currently at no call no showed his first day and apparently had a bad reputation from when he last worked here, so there may be overtime in my future over the next month or so

So maybe because even with 40 hours I can pay my bills and use plasma to pay for gas and food I can get some essentials and take my time changing jobs

Or maybe I should apply quickly and stuff because I'm already caught up, but it will probably be at least a month until I can get to this point and like I said, my teeth are hurting again, I want a cat, there are essentials I can get

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I would honestly wait until you're set up and fully settled in your new apartment and new job before you get a cat. I completely understand why you're so desperate to get one, as I am a cat lover myself, but you're taking on a big financial responsibility. I know feeding them doesn't need to cost loads but you are agreeing to keeping them safe and healthy, which may involve sudden and unexpected large vet bills. You don't really have the option to just not pay for their medical care. You'd end up having to give the cat away or go into debt if they got sick or injured.

I'm also not sure how great a companion they will be straight away if you're getting work done on your teeth and recovering at home. I've had a fair number of cats and when you first bring them home it is stressful. It can take weeks or months for them to settle in, some of them will shit and piss everywhere because they're confused about the move, some might even be aggressive at first... It goes on and on. I would not want to be guiding them through that transition period when I was recovering from dental work and changing jobs. Fuck that.

Sorry if that sounds really negative. I've gone into Mum mode. But it is probably best to revisit the cat idea once you're more settled.

Why don't ya go trans, start camming, onlyfans then join the porn industry? You don't even realise how lucky you are to have this opportunity as nowhere else in the world. Palms, beaches, posh cars, luxury and thick chicks that would never otherwise bother with you lil peepee

I agree that your cat needs time to adjust before it will be the type of companion you want so don’t expect it to be all loving right away. Some are, some aren’t. You should apply for that job if you’re interested in it but don’t give a two weeks notice until you actually receive word that the new job will hire you.

If you quit ups it may be the biggest mistake of your life. Get another part time job and wait 6 months to 3 years for a driving job to open. Once it opens you'll make around 40 an hour.

Do you work at a small UPS hub or a large one?

    • No I don't work there now, I tried applying back in December but I missed the interview. They actually put me in with personal vehicle drivers then told me to reschedule. I kept getting caught up with work and decided to postpone it

So I don't have that option anymore, but it's a Frito lay warehouse, pays like 16.75 or something, supposedly really good if you live alone because they like to throw hours at you. Sounds perfect

I just need a couple detox kits and a drug test. I wanna do it once to make sure I know how, I think they're gonna test me
