How to you guys deal with your parents get mad when u got a tattoo

I am 19 years old. I got so bumped and depressed when my favourite artist died . I wanna get a his logo Tattoo on my arm , it's about 4cm times 2.5cm . It's not a big one . My parents are extremely strict about tattoo and apparently I didn tell them about it . But I already had an appointment with the tattoo artist , I am so down for this. If I really got that tattoo and my parents found out one day. They are gonna kill me . If u was me . What would you do and react

U shouldn't do it at all 11

None of their business 13

  • Wait until you move out and are on your own. You might change your mind about the tattoo.

  • I also wanted this once, but I couldn't afford it at that time. It was that fever or freedom and attachment for a star. My idol is Tupac and I wanted a huge tattoo with him on my whole back. I realized later that I don't really want that. I don't think I'd have regretted it much, but the desire is no longer there, so soon enough it would have ended up being no longer important to me. I also realized that Tupac makes me quite turbid reminiscing about my unhappy childhood, and I don't want to live my life always being disturbed and remembering those times. This is why I am happy I did not do it.

I think you should allow a long period of time before this, and examine closely how you feel while your life changes, because once you proceed to further steps in life, you change yourself and you might find it harmful to have permanent stuff with you while your natural development requires big changes.

Some say a good idea is to keep a picture for a year with you and watch it daily, to see if you truly want to keep seeing it. If not, it's probably temporary and you shouldn't get a tattoo. I also think your parents should explain you this, instead of forbidding, because at a certain age you will make your own decisions no matter what.

I think you should cancel your appointment, but not give up this idea. Just give yourself 1-2 years or more to critically analyze this trying different methods, and after this it is safer to make a decision.

Before saying anything I read the comments and agree. If you're living under their roof you live by their rules - to a point.
My Mom always said no tats while I live under her roof and I respected that. Wasn't a big deal and glad I waited - actually years after moving out.
You never know. You might like that artist, but in a couple years might regret or feel differently having on your body forever!
You might not be a child anymore, but you need to respect their wishes if you still live at home.
If for some reason when you move out and still feel the need then do it!

I would deal with it by not having the tat in the first place. Imagine what it is going to look like in 30 years time.

Very true, I cannot think for the life of me why anyone would visit a site, post questions & then fucking answer them yourself using another name.

Am I missing something here? Is this the done thing now?

            • The moderators have all these alts and are the prolific posters and commenters. This is what occurs on a website that has no traffic in order to keep it breathing, and to get pennies for the click bait ads. The mods are clicking those ads whenever they aren’t trolling. It’s an interesting business model, I guess.

i would say nice tattoo. who is your favorite artist? james blunt just died. gollum died, too. i love james blunt, but i want a baby gollum tattoo. it would be so cute. i would love it if i were pretty. i would never get a tattoo, though not that anyone would care but me. i would say nice tattoo. if it looked bad i would say i love your tattoo if i was your parent. but i am not and i am never getting a tattoo for myself.

You're over 18 and can make your own decision. They may not like it but they have no right to say you can't. It may come to a head and you might have to move out and then things will be really tense with your parents. This is the new millinium for f*cks sake. Its very normal now. I am planning to get a bio-mechanical tattoo on my hand soon and add on to it as time goes by.

Unless you want your ass whooped I wouldn’t recommend you do it. My parents took a thatch broom and hit me so hard I was sore for a couple days, this was just for considering getting a tattoo. Don’t risk it man.

He's over the age of consent. He can do what he wants within the law and the last time I checked getting a tattoo was still legal.

  • 19 is a legal adult so fuck it and get that tattoo, youre gonna probably regret it later but that's for the future you to think about

It’s a tough situation because legally you are free to do what you want but they have the upperhand of guilt and dissownment. It sucks but sometimes you have to suck it up and wait until the time is right ( mostly when you are 100% self dependant).

If you're dependent on your parents, then I say it is their business. Tell them or move out.

if every time somebody you cared for died and you got a tattoo and everyone else got a tattoo they cared for our species would be totally inked . Is that the world you want to live in or is that a living nightmare
