I was lonely and bullied and hated every part of it.

Was it a sand pit or dog poop pit with some sand?

As pathetic as mine was, my adulthood has been far worse, replete with guns being pointed at me, attacked by a dog, etc., totally random.

When I look back I mostly hated it. There were some "good"parts buts those were usually broken apart quickly by negative things.

It was fantastic!!! We would play in the bush, climb on trees, play football, do mud cakes, go to the river, steal peaches, pick guavas. Mmmmm sweet memories

I was that strange, tree-hugging, loner, artistic, vampire/witch obsessed, hide and go seek hating, just like to sit down and talk to people about the issues, weird kid that no one understood.

...Not too different from what I am now.

  • i had lots of friends and i was determined to have fun, we did lots of good things like swimming camping etc, also i had a few friends whos family ran shops, oh that was fun and then i would go home and everything turned sour, so i would plan new adventures with my friends and forget about home

Had an abusive childhood so it wasn't perfect, but I have lots of happy memories. Although there were bad things which have coloured my entire life, and I was a complicated, misunderstood child, I'm almost tempted to describe my childhood as happy because it often was.

  • Normal upbringing.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • I wouldn't talk much, didn't make many friends, and rebelled often for seemingly no reason. It wasn't an overly unhappy childhood, just very cold and quiet.

I still think of myself as in the midst of it, and I think I will feel that way for some time. But it's been pretty good. Every childhood has it's ups and downs.

In the least patronising way possible, I honestly feel pretty shitty for the people on here whenever I see anything on IIN about people with bad childhoods. This site seems to attract people with that kind of background; either that or it's more common than I like to think and I've been luckier than I thought.

Aside from the constant harassment of my peers, both physically and emotionally, it really wasn't so bad. I miss it and wish I could go back.

we would play outside in the street for the whole day and play till our any elder person of family arrived from work.... i remember we had a ban glow being constructed in front of our house and the sand pits there were the favorite for us to play .. we would build sand castles and tunnels and shake hands through those tunnels and that moment used to be so successful... watching tom and Jerry ... and hating h.w....
and one more interesting thing we had made a game called Cinderella .. in which one used to be the step mother and others sisters and the one with most beautiful dress that day would be Cinderella ... and we used to play that way..... no worries no tensions when completing h.w was just a difficult task ....

Meh, mixed bag. My parents are wonderful people but my mom was a bit... controlling? Pressure to dress better, pressure in school, insults when I don't dress feminine enough. They would flip shit at me til I cried if I came home with a B or a C. Very overprotective, like to the point where once I was 18 I got myself into a lot of bad situations because I had been so sheltered, was too trusting of people...

But I digress. Everyone's parents give them some issues, you can take all the classes and still really not be ready when the time comes. They meant well, I hold nothing against them.

The guy who made me do things when I was young and threatened to take away my videogames or get me in trouble if I told anyone.. he's the one who really fucked things up for me.

  • Not really. What I remember most is turmoil, confusion and conflict. Some of it was due to my father. He was a hard man. Despite having a good mother and a wonderful highschool experience, I still wouldn't repeat that either.

    Like most teenagers, I was....um...awkward :)

But I like being a young adult. I have vigor, youth, (some) wisdom, and charisma. Comparing that to what I was as a child there's no way I'd go back.

There were so many amazing parts, but so many very sad parts. I wouldn't want to relive it nor would I want to forget it. I learned, I grew, I was shaped into the person I am today. I wouldn't trade that for the world! I've got problems, but I have solutions. I'm the unstoppable force who will never meet an immovable object. I'm an ever succeeding, ever losing, but never submissive fighter.

I posted a really long novel and I deleted it. It just thought it was really stupid.

Other than issues with my parents, I will say that my childhood was great. My friends and I played outside all of the time, jumped into trashcans and went down hills in them, played sports from dawn til dusk and pushed our parents' patience when we didn't want to go in...

My parents taught me a lot of real world lessons which prepared me for the responsibilities that come with being the oldest child in a single-parent house with a working Mother. They also prepared me for life now. I was always a strange child that attracted attention somehow, but I never had no friends. I don't envy the generation below mine, a lot of them will be too occupied with their cell-phones or computers to see and do the awesome stuff that we did ;)
