How will rice fix a cel phone

I have been told that if your cell phone gets wet you should put in rice. I don't see how this will help.
Which one of these options do you think is right?

I don't know anything 3
this is an urban myth 2
the rice will dry it out 30
the rice will attract Asians who will fix it 25
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Buy powdered silica (used to dry flowers) from a craft store. Take the back off the phone before you seal it in your air tight container with the silica.

Not true but I guess the manufacturers have you fooled into throwing it away and buying another one

And make sure you do not turn it on to check it still works until you know it has dried out.

Ha, did you just finish watching that new Keanu Reeves fuck fest, Knock Knock? That's what he did to fix one of the hooers cells phones. I don't remember if it actually worked though.

The water isn't the problem, it's the residue it leaves behind one it dries, surrounding it with rice in a Tupperware is meant to draw the moisture out so no residue is left behind

I just use a Tupperware wasn't a general tip to follow, did sound like it the way I typed it though, but, phones carry an incredible amount of germs from everything you touch during the day so I wouldn't feel comfortable putting it in rice that is still going to be used

I didn't think of that aspect, thanks .... well, I've eaten all that rice now and it didn't seem to do me any harm but if I have to do it again I'll put it in a separate container to the one I cook from.
