How would you compare your intelligence to the rest of the population?

It's funny how most people think they're smarter than everyone else. Really, now?

But then again I moved from Europe to America...

Perspective, indeed. Put me in the wilderness with a native of that wilderness. I may write erudite farewells and die in three days while he or she continues living a long and happy productive life. Who is the intelligent one? And while we're at it, what is so great about our western intelligence and our science? We invent atomic weaponry, the sole purpose of which is to kill as many people as possible as quickly as possible. Intelligent? Hmm.

ive never had an IQ test so i assume i am smarter than some and stupider than others...
what does the country of origin have to do with it? arent these tests standardized?

if you were REALLY smart you'd know that IQ tests are not a true test of knowledge. Research the origins of them ;)

my i.q. is 131. the average i.q. in america is 100. i.q. measures base intelligence, not things you've learn from a book or skills you've acquired.

The question does't define the population. It could be the US. It could be the world. It could be your home town.

my IQ is 160. Around 97% of the people i have ever met seem to have an IQ of 95 or less (2% are around 130 and I've never met anyone else above that). they all believe they're smart, yet they cant think for themselves (they all follow the crowd, cant come up with their own ideas, steal, etc). i think people aren't being honest with themselves on this poll. the real results should be: i am less intelligent than most people- 50, i am about average- 295, i am somewhat smarter-50, i cant believe how much smarter i am-8.

Define intelligence...

"I can't believe how much smarter I am" would probably be genius', people who'll be remembered long after death.
"I'm above average" should be very good artists/doctors/etc.

Everyone else should be average.

In school I was always in the 99 percentile for everything. I always have a GPA of over 4.0 and my SAT scores were amazing. I guess that's pretty normal since I'm Asian. XD

Compared to humans, much, much more intelligent.
Compared to my own kind, slightly above average.

To those of you who have good grades and check what rank you are in your class... congratulations, you are SMART. Not entirely an indication of intelligence though. There is a difference. Someone who has a 4.5 GPA and ranked #1 in their class can't be called more intelligent than someone with a 2.0 GPA. In America especially, it's just a sign of work ethic. And working hard IS a good thing. A great thing even. But it certainly doesn't put your mind above too many others.

And for the love of humanity, do not put any stock in your "IQ scores".

I can't really judge. Something tells me I'd be biased.

I'm not as intelligent as joybird probably is, but I am above average I would say...but my emotional/animal IQ is I am sorry to say pretty darn low...and when I drink it is no longer fun like it used to be...I am tempted to toss the 24 oz bottle of Kirin beer (very good for an inexpensive beer...) that I have in the fridge...no...I'll just give it to my housemate. Oh...yeah, he hasn't paid his share of the bills yet!! and he does not flush the toilet when he takes a crap...what does it mean??? I know that it does NOT mean, that he feels great...he may have sold his soul to Rock & Roll,(he has it tattooed all over his chest heh heh) but I never made any such pact,(I just seem like I have because of my low emotional IQ and because I drank about 4 beers)(the past 12 hours I have often felt like crying) and further more I don't enjoy Rocking and Rolling, I prefer Hi-fi...(I'm ditching beer for awhile..)...Now to switch hard drives, so I can post my damn photo!!!

Perhaps I will put off drinking beer, until I get in a quality relationship with a female..

I think very rationally about things, and while I'm rubbish at using programs like MS Excel and MS Access, in terms of English and History I feel like a genius.

I wonder a lot why other people do the stupid things they do. It really grinds my gears!

People think I'm smart, IRL. I think they're obviously wrong. But if that's the case, then it follows they aren't too intelligent.

you have to develop it, that's why without having access to info, it can't be well developed
