    The drawbacks? Huge social security increase. Why in the fuck are we still funding a system that even people on the extreme left admit will inevitably go extinct?

      they are receiving an 8.5% increase, but will LOSE many benefits food stamps, housing, health, the list goes on. (hello venezuela) in the long run.

          The problem is how to do pay benifits to the people who have put in money for their entire life,

          The problem has been known for at least 30 years, and the fix would have been simple 30 years ago,

          Now there is no easy or painless fix.

          Politicians don't like to fix things that are broken. In many cases, they only want to fix things that mainly work to cause more disruption.
