Me from a year+ ago is still right: you, like OP, are projecting your own faults (or perceived faults) onto humanity as a whole. There are elements of each of us that aren't virtuous, that are selfish and wasteful. There are also elements of us that ARE virtuous, noble, honest, gracious and graceful.
If you're so quick to brand humanity as a whole with the negative elements without realizing all the positive, let alone the potential for positive, then you seriously need to work on developing yourself.

I think that what you have said is mostly true.
But we live! And we are loved by God, and we form bonds with each other and feel attachment and affection towards each other. To me, humanity is disgusting and beautiful all at once. It's such an awesome paradox when you see the one with the other.

Humans, particularly the human psyche, are a complex system. Some humans, in fact MOST humans, are selfish. That's how animals tend to be; caring only for themselves or in rare cases their families/packs/hives. There are a few humans that tend to be bit more open than this. There are people in the world that try to improve the planet. We fucked up when we decided to base society on economics.
However humans are not worthless. Our society is just filled to the brim with unbridled greed, wrath, and sloth. With the other "seven deadlies" not that far behind.
Have you ever met someone who PURPOSELY lives homeless? Traveling the country, perhaps the world, on foot just to escape society as much as they can? Or perhaps a person who homesteads in the northern reaches of the planet. People who escape society. These are the groups of people that, ironically enough, I respect more than most.
Then of course there are veterinarians, doctors, botonists, bee keepers, artists, musicians, or a variety of other careers that tend to attract...softer hearted people. I think your viewpoint comes from looking at the world, most humanity, at its worst. I would argue 80% of us are in fact pieces of shit. The rest, the truly good people, are the ones we should be searching for.

Yes, they are. While living meaningless lives (like everyone else of course), they have done nothing but cause chaos. Humans have never done something actually useful. Humans are good for nothing. But you are correct one part. It is filled with greed, sloth, and wrath.

I hate the people who look down on the whole humanity like that. There are plenty of people who do good things in their life and try to minimize the damage they do. Of course there are some bad too, but people should be jugded as individuals. The reason we destroy nature is because we are too smart compared to other animals, and like all other animals naturally prioritize our own needs, survival and safety first: which all animals do and have the right to as living beings. Wild animals have hard lives with fairly high chance of not living till old age or even adulthood, if we lived fully in harmony with nature we would have equally hard and dangerous lives. Would you be willing to go a week without food on a regular basis to achieve that harmony?
Hate me if you want, it makes no difference. No, there are not "plenty" of good people that minimize the damage they do and there is no such thing as a good person. Yes, they should. The very fact that you like nature and animals means something. Animals serve no other purpose for you than food, unless you have some love to give. This makes you worth fighting for.
iEatZombies: I don't agree with OP here, but animals of course serve purpose other than food. Wild animals keep the entire ecosystem in balance. And many tamed animals do other tasks like service dogs help the handicapped for example. They also give people company and comfort. Animals and nature can be beautiful to look at. And they of course live for their own sake, so do people, and there is nothing inherently wrong with that. There is something wrong with being too selfish and not caring about others, but there it nothing wrong with wanting a good life and with just being. I'm not against using animals for food, but the fact you think they're ONLY for food is almost concerning, just like OP you must be lacking something...
No, animals have a lot more purpose than just food. Animals are the only loving creatures there is. Animals deserve love. And I have no idea what god sees in humans that he considers them having worth. But regardless of what god thinks about humans, humans still are a disgrace. Have a nice day.
Seriously the problem is with you, not with the entire humanity. The fact you do not have anyone in life you truly care about/feel affection towards and cannot feel sympathy towards other humans shows there is something wrong with you as a person. Or maybe you're just really unlucky with who you are surrounded by, but I think it lies deeper. At best (although those things are not good, it just means there is hope for you) you just have a mental health problem like low self esteem or depression, at worst you're actually a psychopath/sociopath. You're missing something fundamental if you cannot see how individual people can have worth, care about other people who suffer and realize that there are people who do good things, otherwise charities wouldn't exist, nor would nearly any form of activist groups. While there is a little bit of logic in the way you're thinking, you seriously need to seek mental help. And you are not getting the whole picture, you see the world in a very biased way
