Hunting trip

My friend (who I've known for a long time) has asked me if I would like to go on a camping/hunting trip further down south.
I don't know the other guys so well, and I'm not really the outdoors type (I don't like getting dirty, tbh). Also, it will probably rain and I'm worried everything will just get wet.
I'm not sure whether to go.
What do you guys think?

is it normal I don't know whether to go down on this (probably) wet, dirty elk hunt?

Camping, sure. Dirty, uhh ya hello. Hunting, no, I think that should only be done for survival, not sport.

  Initially I was only worried about the dirt and wetness but after reading the comments it's the killing part of the el khunt that's got me worried.

    I used to hunt whitetail deer but gave it up. Keep in mind, killing isn't the worst part. Gutting it is the worst part. You may literally be up to your elbows in bloody entrails removing them from the carcass. Plus they tend to have a lovely aroma. If you don't have an atv you will have to drag or carry it out of the woods by hand. Animals tend to drop dead in inconvenient spots, not next to your pick up.
    If you just wound your prey you better be prepared to track it so you don't just leave it to die a slow painful death.
    
    More than likely you will just freeze your ass off sitting motionless in the woods. Now you know why I quit hunting. Easier to go to the frozen meat section of the store.
    
    I'm curious to know where you're from because as far as I know there aren't any elk in the Southern US. Maybe out west or someplace.

Try it. It is certainly better than being isolated and sinking into madness as a result of the isolation. You may find that you enjoy it and may even make new friends. All friends were strangers before you got to know them.

      So then would you rather have animals be pumped full of hormones and live miserable lives until they're slaughtered inhumanely? I'm all for animal rights which is why I think people who say hunting is wrong makes no sense. Humans are omnivores, meaning we eat both plants and animals. You cannot expect everyone to just stop eating meat. Hunting is the only natural way to get meat and is much more humane than most slaughter houses. Just watch some videos on how those places are ran and you'll never want to eat low quality meat again.

I guess so, but give your average working 9-5 person a gun they wouldn't have a clue where to start, or may not live where hunting is legal/practiced. Probably wouldn't even know how to skin and prepare it for food. People these days want cheap, easy food, hunting has passed its day, we're not cave men anymore. I don't eat meat, no animal should suffer or be killed for the sake of any human.

  Nice. I'm a hunter. I love hunting trips. The people are always funny and nice. Driving a 4x4 is fun. The suspense of waiting there with a rifle is awesome...
  And if lady luck is at your side and you get the shot, the feeling is very rewarding.

Sounds to me that you will be miserable the whole time. That said, other than a few days of misery, what have you got to lose? You might find out you really enjoy the whole thing and it could change your life completely.

Try it. You'll probably like it. People on such hunting trips are always fun and friendly. The food is excelent! Learned some of my best jokes on hunting trips and tasted the best cold cuts I have ever tasted!
Besides you wear propper clothes for hunting. You don't go out in skinny jeans, your I-pod and a t-shirt XD
Even if you don't have the clothes, most hunters have spare hunting jackets, trousers and boots.

One time I forgot my hunting jacket and went with my leather one. One of the guys there was more than happy to give me a hunting jacket he had in his car.

And you get to see nature. Cause hunting is about so much more, than just shooting something.
