I’m scared and uncomfortable about going to see a therapist?

cause lately I’ve been going through depression and having thoughts of self harm and I been told I should see a therapist but to me I get scared and uncomfortable by that by what anybody else thinks of me going to see one cause I don’t want them to think I’m crazy or anything else.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

No one has to know that you are seeing a therapist. If you want you can completely refrain from telling a soul.

Therapists are there to help, man. It's really good to see a therapist once you get over the nervousness to begin with. They become like a close friend, so my advice would be to grit your teeth and go for it.

1 Fuck what anyone else thinks.
2 If a therapist works for you, great. and knowone needs to know but you.
3 For me, therapist are overpriced peices of clay.
    Full of crap, easily manipulated.
But at the end of the day, a huge waste of someones money.
Find your own peace, knowone else knows the path.

Like Rose said, nobody has to know. If it's judgement you're worried about, the stigma of seeing a therapist is no where near as bad as it used to be. Chances are that at least one other person you know is also seeing a therapist.

If you genuinely want help, but are too afraid to go to an actual therapist you can always try online or over the phone counseling. Crisis text line is a good one if you live in the US. All you have to do is text "connect" to 741741 to get counseling for whatever you are going through.
