I am an atheist, yet i want to experience god as much as possible.

I am a scientist and an atheist (agnostic). I am extremely sceptical and I enjoy learning about all the kinds of nonsense inside my own (and others') mind(s).

But at the same time I am obsessed with experiencing divinity. It started when I got consistent with my practice in meditation and yoga. It got worse when I also got into high doses of LSD.

Am I normal?

    Well im agnostic because i think its all dumb.

    Science was created by man so its probably wrong.

    Religion was created by man so its probably wrong.

    The fact that humans think they know the truth about reality is retarded...You know only what you learn and you learn that from people who learnt that from other people and so on, so science is a joke because we have no true basis for comparison....and god is just as likely to be a giant platypus that hates humans and makes it rain by pissing on us.

    I am a Promethean atheist. It's difficult to explain what that means but the best way to sum it up is "thou art god". There are rituals and such that I do, yet I do it believe "in god". I do not hold to the belief that the universe is god either. God is consciousness.

    It's normal but as a scientist you should know that meditation and drug usage is going to tap into different parts of your brain, the human mind is a strange thing, people cloud their judgement by their own perception & interpretation of things they see, hear, feel, smell & taste.

    My advice...stay off the acid

    If you want to feel divinity and get close to God, go to church. Go at least one day and see how you feel. Just try it and see. Before you go and do that, don't use any drugs.

    Get off your drugs for one thing. It's alright to want to experience that but not believe in it, people find their own faith in different things.

    I find it difficult being agnostic when I want very badly for there to be something. Using lsd seems a little extreme to try to experience divinity.

    Agnostics and Atheists aren't the same thing. Atheists do not believe in any sort of god, and would never believe. while an agnostic believes that there may be one, but until they see proof, are skeptical.

    Atheist: Not at all, Agnostic, maybe

    Your problem in my opinion is that you can't jusy accept. Because you are constantly in search of your answer your mind never rest, even though you try to silence it by meditation. Just let it be.
