What the title says...
He rejected me, but we stayed friends. I took some time apart to heal. I thought I was over it, but I'm not. I still like him so, so much. I want him as my boyfriend but I also want him as my friend. Yet I think I might have to cut contact permanently for my own good.
You've done the right thing by letting them know of your feelings. Rejection was an unfortunate but always possible outcome. You seem to see the positive aspects of this person without thinking of the negative. If you want these feelings to go away then I suggest reminding yourself that while you see a future with them, they don't. It's not something you did wrong or could change. If distancing yourself is necessary then by all means, do what you believe will help the friendship
I faced a similar issue back in the day she was one of my close friends like a sister even we knew each other for years and I developed feelings for her. Never told because I didn't have the balls and I have a massive fear of rejection I read your post and I have to say you have more balls then I do. I can't say what you should do I personally wouldn't cut contact if it's your close friend I get the pain and anxiety but it could hurt your friend if you cut him off. Then again it's your choice I'm just some rando on the internet.
Why did this get downvoted? That's literally a good idea. Start with "casual" and be good in bed and then he will probably grow on you. Then just bring up an actual relationship and boom, your in.
