I am so scared of alligators

My husband and I just recently moved to Florida from New York. We bought a house on a river because my hubby is really into boating and we have access to the Gulf of Mexico. I have seen 3 alligators already. We had wine with some neighbors who have lived here for a long time and he said they are more scared of us than we are of them, unless they're over 12 feet long. Awesome. I am super scared now and don't want to do anything on the water. No thanks- giant dinosaurs with reptilian brains are outside of my house. How can we have a family here? How can we have pets? Am I justified in my fear or am I paranoid?

Actually your fear of alligators is totally normal, I myself is scared mostly because I'm scared about being eaten by one ( not that it matters. ), that's why sometimes when I go to lakes when going on holidays I avoid the lakes where there is likely to be alligators.

alligators are fucking terrifying, they would litterally rip your dick off and do world champion level achrobatic flips in the water until it either forces so much water into your lungs you die or you die of bloodloss like jesus fuck this fucking lizard from hell litterally weighs like 100 pounds and is carnivourous like wtf

They lurk near the shore just beneath the surface so they can leap out and catch animals drinking from the lake or river. They will definitely eat dogs and cats. I've never heard of one dragging a full grown adult into the water, but big ones definitely can.
I'd be more worried about cottonmouths and coral snakes in Florida.
