I called the right number, but got the wrong person

This happened to me for the 2nd time today and I'm not sure what to think of it.

I was making a call off my iPhone to a friend. Right before I called them I had sent a text message with a picture to someone else. As the phone was ringing on my friends number I heard the sound saying my text had been sent. When the phone was answered it was not my friend and I was told I had the wrong number.

I apologized and tried the number again, this time it rung with no answer until I got the "the number you've dialed is not currently accepting calls at this time". I tried again a few minutes later and got a hold of my friend.

This is the second time this has happened to me calling the same friends number. The first time it happened, I called I got some random lady. I called back and got some random guy. Finally I got a hold of my friend after several tries.

I'm not sure what to think of this. Perhaps wire tapping?

Is this normal?

    Yeah man im tapping your wire have been for the last few years. I suggest breaking your phone and moving into a cave somewere so i can't find you to easily.

    XD One time my friend gave all the people he was inviting to a party a wrong number...we all ended up calling an old lady who yelled at me over the phone saying, "Dammit I have to pay per call!!"
    So perfectly normal that your friend gives you the wrong number.....on accident but he or she gave it to you on purpose then....

    Hi from seven years in the future. This just happened to me too. was calling my mom's cell and a man picked up. I thought is was my brother so I said my brothers name and the man was like "wrong number" and hung up on me.

    Then I called my dads cell phone and asked for him to put my mom on. I asked her if someone stole her phone. She said no. I asked her if my brother picked up the phone. She said he wasn't home and the phone was next to her. I asked if Dad picked up the phone. She said no, it was right next to her.

    I think you called me! Seriously, a few weeks ago I got about ten calls that were all wrong numbers. It got to the point where, when my phone rang, I expected it to not be for me.

    i don't think your phones tapped pl+s wire tapping doesn't work on cells, the only way is interception of the signal and it does not have this effect. i agree with "psychobabble" on this one :)

    Have you told your friend that this has happened? It could be something wrong with their phone.
