I can lose weight easier than i can gain weight

I am very skinny and often people around me tell me that I need to gain a little weight. Just living my normal life though that involves sports and a small appetite, I lose weight without trying to. The weight that I lose without effort takes much longer for me to gain back than to lose. People tell me all the time to gain a little weight but I'm just trying to maintain my weight before I can even worry about that.

I'm not happy about it. I don't like how I can't maintain my weight.

Metabolism slows as we age, so people like you usually slide into a normal weight while most people become fat...I am like you and have found that I must really limit my cardio or I become a stick...a little cardio is fine but stick to short burst intense exercise not lengthy cardio....short burst are weightlifting...sprinting.....intense calisthenics folloed by a rest period, etc

I have the same problem, and as you can see from some of the responses here, we don't get much sympathy for it. I got food poisoning a few years ago and lost 10 pounds. It took me a full year to gain it back. I gained it back by continuing my workouts and eating healthy high calorie food and protein shakes and look better than before now.

Same here. I've always been like this. I inherited my fast metabolism from my father, who also was very thin. It's a blessing but, it is also a curse in how people treat you and the complications you can get from being underweight.

It's normal...It's called high metabolism. Some have a higher metabolism than others. I have a pretty good appetite, but I never gain weight and people tell me the same thing.

If you have a small appetite, you should avoid doing vigorous cardio workouts because you could be working off more calories than you're taking in, which isn't healthy. Truth is muscle weighs more than fat. Spend some time working out at the gym and building muscle. That will make you look healthier, and you will gain more weight.
