I cant find humor in people dying

People I know laugh if there's a story about someone doing something stupid then dying because of it but I have never been able to see the humor in it. It annoys me when people laugh about others suffering even if I dont like them. Even people being humiliated makes me feel uneasy and I dont get any pleasure out of seeing it. Even the Chris Hanson show always made me abit uneasy seeing people ruining their life. I dont agree with what they did but I still feel bad for them in a way.

You're completely normal, it's society that is abnormal for laughing at shit like that. It's disgusting. If someone is stupid, then any decent person would want to look out for them, and protect them from their own bad ideas or from people who'd take advantage of them. For the most part, they can't help being stupid. They were born that way, it's like a disability. So to laugh at them for that, or because it causes them to harm themselves, or even kill themselves, is completely immoral. They have hopes and dreams, and fears and regrets. Happy and sad times. Family and friends that love them, and that they love. An entire life. So to laugh at the loss of all that is completely fucking repulsive.

It's not the try-hard trolls, who actively try their best to be offensive about it, that bother me though. But it's the average person, who considers themselves a decent person, but who casually jokes about it because they haven't thought through the implications of it, that really bother me. It's these people that make it acceptable, and trivialising someone's death should never be acceptable.

Neither is society or the OP abnormal when it comes to a topic like this. Laughing at someone dying isn't abnormal, neither is feeling empathy for the people.

    I enjoy guillotine humor

People of IIN give me your best guillotine humor joke. I'm not talking about the basic dead baby joke either.

Yeah but I personally laugh if the person genuinely deserves it for e.g. I laugh when rapists get beaten up or when they die.

    • If its a video where a home invader or an armed robber gets shot I think he deserved it but I dont find it funny and slightly feel bad.

Normal, I feel the same! It's just having empathy, which is a good thing.

I'm exactly the same way. I hate it too :( It makes me upset thinking about people lies being ruined. Even people who are attracted to k!ds. They didn't choose that and unless they rape someone or co-erce people into doing something they don't want to, they don't deserve to suffer.

Hmm, maybe it's because they just do? If someone dies because of a stupid choice they made that resulted in their death, I laugh because of how someone could be so stupid that they'd even be the cause of their own death. If someone who deserves to suffer ends up suffering for whatever they've done to deserve their death/misery, I laugh knowing that person got what they deserved. Like if someone goes and rapes a child, I will laugh knowing they are suffering for the damage they caused that child. Sometimes, it's funny because it just is. Death can sometimes be a funny thing. I sometimes laugh when someone gets hit by a train. Let me ask you this, why does it matter to you?

    • But dont you empathize thinking that could be you or your family? For example say someone makes a mistake and drowns or something doesnt that make you think "wow what if that happened to me that would be so painful"?

The reason it matters to me is they're human like me. And I have experienced pain in my life and can relate to pain. And when someone experiences that pain it sparks empathy. Not trying to throw an insult but its strange to me how this is not obvious to you.

Well guess what? They're not me or my family.

"The reason it matters to me is they're human like me. And I have experienced pain in my life and can relate to pain. And when someone experiences that pain it sparks empathy. Not trying to throw an insult but its strange to me how this is not obvious to you".

I was asking why it matters to you if people find humor in someone else's suffering or death. As long as it isn't you who they're laughing at, what's it to you?

        • Oh I just think it's immoral. To be honest to me its a redflag if someone laughs at those things.

Laughing at someone's death is nowhere near immoral. sorry to break it you. And no, it is not a "redflag" because some whiny empath like you has their panties in a bunch. Sorry, but no, it is far from a redflag because someone finds humor in someone's death or suffering, especially if it's deserved or because of someone's own stupidity.

            • For example the red flag turns out to be true in this case because you have insulted me over my own opinion.

I used to laugh at The Darwin Awards, but then I realized that everybody does stupid things, including me. It’s only a matter of luck that I didn’t die of some of the stupid things
    I’ve done,
