Whenever my bird is angry or making some angry sounds, its impossible to take it seriously because its just too cute. She tries sometimes to bite my finger off with her tiny beak or make high pitched sounds that are apparently her telling me shes not happy. But its just too adorable.
I used to be a cute kid when I was a boy. When I'd get upset my dad would sing this song by Barenaked Ladies called One Week. He would say the line where they say, "I cannot help but think it's funny when you're mad. Trying hard not to smile thoigh I feel bad". Used to make me so much more upset. He would then just laugh more. I guess it made me a little more independent
It taught you independence, But you could have also been spared the red butt cheeks by him singing & laughing. Too bad a lot of other parents don't try something like that. Instead they lose patience & control and the poor Unless he did it to keep himself from getting mad or frustrated. Props to your Pop's! He found a Sanity tactic that is a great way to handle some kids.Some like my nieces, made them angrier. In the store my nieces would throw themselves on the floor screaming and crying (so loud it sounded like they were being murdered, beaten or kidnapped) that a bunch of people would peek around both ends of the store aisle to make sure they were okay, only to see them lying on the floor kicking both legs & flailing both arms looking like they were possessed all out temper tantrums. People looking at my sister & I 10 feet away trying not to let them see us laughing as it would make them louder & last longer. Over whatever it was my sister said she wouldn't buy for them. We learned to warn people not to get to close when they went to ask if they were okay, Because they would kick or try to slap ANYONE that looked at them. After they stood up then they would tell the people whatever they wanted to know. Yes I'm okay, I didn't fall, no my mom didn't hit or knock me down, NO! My mom does NOT spank me! My dad isn't here, no he doesn't hit, spank, etc. We waited far enough away while one of us kept our eyes on them until the ladies shopping in the store or the manager, fathers or whoever finished their child abuse investigations. We were glad because they did the right thing to make sure the kids were okay.One lady didn't say a word to us or my niece, she just followed us to our car wrote the plate number then said i call CPS and they are coming to get the kids. I have your plate # if you leave! (really know it all snooty type) well, child services didn't take them, didn't follow up because 2 other people that saw it all from asking for a toy until they got up and walked over to us. Came out when they saw the cops lights & CPS talking to the kids they went and told the cop what they saw & the lady said she saw my sister doing it they were being slapped, kicked and being yelled at. Thanks to the other people that actually saw what happened. One guy said he couldn't stop watching waiting for someone to appear from around the corner saying "You're on Candid Camera" because I thought my kids' tantrums couldn't be topped! He looked at my sister and laughed as he said "Okay, you win. Hands down!"
I loved it when my blue front amazon would get mad & slide down her cage hop over to my feet tug on my sock then hop back a little bit then keep doing it until I picked her up & let her have a taste of hot chocolate, bite of chicken nuggets ,ham or anything & everything I ate she had to try it too. Cannibalistic chicken eating bird. Lol
