I constantly hear a mysterious chirping sound

It started within the last few months. Like I'd be in bed and hear a chirping sound, like a high pitched "wee-woo!" I thought it was the upstairs neighbors ringtone because they always have their sh** up super loud. But now I've started hearing it in a friend's building too, at least 3 times already. Seriously wondering if it's an auditory hallucination or spirits trying to get my attention. Is this normal?

Maybe you need to change the battery in your smoke alarm, or maybe it's the spirits of dead tweakers trying to show you some shadow people?

    Oh my god...

I'm worried for you. Like, seriously. This is concerning. Man, I don't know how to tell you this, but there is a spirit called baddonkakonk and it makes that sound whenever you, or someone close to you is going to die.

Some houses make interesting noises depending on the wind and weather.

It could well be something like that, and often houses of the same generation (built the same way) can make very similar noises.

I had this too when I was younger. I would hear it whenever I'd go to bed. I was around 8-10 and it was always at my dad's house. It disappeared after a while. Very strange

One thing I can say with absolute confidence is that it isn't a spirit trying to contact you. I mean, you can believe that if you choose to, but that way madness lies (literally).

Are you absolutely sure it's not your phone - or someone else's phone - making weird noises? Some apps seemed designed to cause annoyance by making pointless sounds that are supposed to be cute or endearing or some such shit.

The other thought that occurred to me is that it could be a form of tinnitus. That's usually a constant ringing, buzzing or whooshing sound, but there is something called pulsatile tinnitus that's the result of the ear picking up sounds of blood being pumped through your head. If the sound continues for some time, you could try to see if it's in time with your heartbeat.

Finally, drugs - both prescription and illicit - are known to mess with our auditory system and make us hear things that just ain't there.
