I cut my split ends one by one

I sit in the light and i pick at my hair, every time i find a split end i cut it off, im always doing this and almost everyday, and when im i find a split end and i dont have scissors i wish i could cut it off.. is this normal

    I thought I was the only one...When I'm stressed I can do this for hours. It's an eye strain, but it's just so damn fun.

    Instead of cutting mine off, I used to take each end of the split then pull them apart to make the split run up the hair until it broke off! Ruined my hair that way, making it really fine at the ends, but a decent cut solved the problem each time it started looking messy!
    I grew out of the habit!

    I do that. Not everyday. Like... once in two or three months (sometimes before going to get a hair cut, so that maybe they won't cut that much XP)... because I want my hair to grow. But I bought recently some shampoos and I hope they take care of it ('cus I'm really into metal, and I want some of those big hairs (without damaged endings)).

    By a good shampoo against split ends (i for example use GLISS Hair repair by shwarzkoft) and a good conditioner.

    I work with a girl that does that, very time consuming but not unusual.
