I disregard christian arguments against pornography

I am in the camp of people who generally dislikes porn and views at least many types of porn as immoral. That being said, when I look for evidence against pornography in general, I completely disregard any arguments that come from Christian (or Muslim) sources because they essentially almost always start with the conclusion that porn is bad because it is a sin according to the Bible, and then cherry pick the evidence to support their view. I view them as akin to Muslims writing a book about how pork is unhealthy and dirty and about how music and alcohol is toxic to the brain. I assume that both are them are just unnecessarily trying to support what their religion says to evangelize their religion to the public. And for the followers of their religion, there should be no extra evidence necessary to stop true believers in the faith from doing what their religion considers sinful.

For someone who says they disregard religious arguments against pornography, you're sure giving it a lot of regard.

Sounds like some perverts that would like to dismiss God to make it ok to watch a 3 year old be molested. Or film fucking little onnes so they would have it to watch while they sat on a cucumber and whacked off.

OK where is there anything written in the Bible that deals with porn? There is incest and adultry and a whole bunch of "begetting" in the Bible and the Tora as well. By the way, the Qur'an says it is OK to eat pork if that is all you have to eat. Saving your body is more important to Allah than starving to death so you wont have to eat pork. Also if you are a guest in someone's house and they cook pork, you are expected to eat the pork because it is a bigger sin to show disrespect to your host.

    • It's pretty explicit in the Bible. Matthew 5:28

OK that is a bit of a stretch since that passage is dealing with the sin of lust. Yes the sight of a naked (or not) person might cause someone to lust for that person in the heart, or eyes etc. So in that sense you are right. But what is art for one person is porn to another.

        • I'm pretty sure it wasn't referring to just looking at naked bodies. Otherwise Michaelangelo's David would be banned and Miley Cyrus's twerking wouldn't have been a fiasco.

    Here's what you do:

Anti-porn religious person: Porn is evil! Don't watch it!

You: Okay, I'll fuck your sister instead. No? Porn it is!

Why are you in a camp with people of of Abrahamic religious beliefs if you don't agree with them? I'm just curious.

Of course I know people of religious beliefs as well as agnostics and atheists who aren't into pornography on the grounds of it being objectifying and or degrading. It doesn't necessarily have to be a about religion or not as everyone's free and entitled to form their own opinion. Why do you care what other people think so much on this issue.

    • I'm not saying that their opinions are not valid. I am simply saying that when I want to find evidence that something itself is good or bad from a scientific manner, I disregard the ones with clear ulterior motives. Also, I never said I agreed or disagreed with them. I am simply saying that if I want an argument on an issue I am neutral on, I disregard the ones with clear religious inclinations.

Well, now you're making more sense, or rather it's at least more clear to me. Of course religious institutions aren't the only ones with ulterior motives. I think it's wise to question the motives of the government, big business and special interests as well.
