About a year ago some workmen came round to put in some insulation, they stomped around a bit too much and it caused a leak, since then my main light hasn't worked, I broke my lamp a few months after so for the past 10 months I just haven't had a light in my bedroom, I have the light from the TV and my phone/tablet screen, at first it was an annoyance and u didn't have the money for a new main light or even lamp but now, I'm just used to it.

Just now the boiler in my room has stopped, we've got hot water but no heating, everyone came into my room to take a look at the boiler and everyone was shocked I was living in this " state " and asked how I lived like this, they made a really big deal out of it and thought it was extremely strange I didn't have any lights, so, iin? Is it really that weird?

    Are you a renter or a homeowner?. As a renter you HAVE rights. As a homeowner its not that hard to install lighting. C'mon man the directions are on the box. Just make sure you turn your power off. Or touch one wire at a time not both. Unless you want to fell 120 volts running through you.

    Why can't you afford a lamp? You can find one for less than ten bucks.
