I don't need it. am i weird?

So even though I have been eligible for over a year, I haven't upgraded my cell phone. I have no problem with my phone from 2011. It does everything I still want and more! But people look at me as if I am a freak for being "out of date" for not upgrading when I can. Am I alone?

Yeah, my old phone was from 2009. I replaced it with a smartphone this year after the screen cracked, but I've been starting to think about downgrading to a cheap pay-as-you-go phone or getting rid of phones altogether. Smartphones suck - literally nobody needs one but they all think they can't live without it. Plain phones are useful, sure, but we lived without them for thousands of years.

You only need to upgrade when you feel like it. Nobody should dictate to you when to upgrade or not. Its your freedom to keep it how long you will!!!

If you're fine with not having the latest - and sometimes superfluous - features and it still functions, it should be all good! And I don't know why anyone should care about what you use. I have a lot of "outdated" electronics, and I'm quite content with them.

I only updated my last phone because I smashed the fuck out of the screen (after bragging about how many times I'd dropped it and it had never even scratched the screen. Serves me right, I guess) and my phone company was offering a new phone for free. I have no Iintention of getting a new one til this one dies (despite cracking the screen second day I had it :/).

  • I don't even have a smart phone. I have had my current phone for a very long time and do not plan to upgrade as long as it still works.

From what I understand you must be some kind of freak. Everybody seems to need the newest and most expensive phone out there. I've seen a couple of posts that implied if the OP couldn't get the newest Iphone, their life would not be worth living. Now that is sick!
But I'm with you, ours is like 3 years old and works just fine. Of course we have yet to make or receive 30 calls a year.

People in 2002 would be crapping their pants in awe at your phone's fancy touch screen technology. It really doesn't need to be anything more than what you want. It must suck feeling like you need new things all the time.

Lol I've had the same phone (an env3) for 3-4 years. I don't see the point in upgrading because I guess I just use it for texting mostly. Maybe someday I will upgrade, but for now I'm content with what I have.
