I don't see my relatives as family

My relatives aren't very supportive of me. It doesn't seem as if they care for me in the slightest. I only see the people closest to me as family. Such as my friends. Is this normal...?

    Yes this is normal !
    I never felt welcome with my moms side of the family , when we use to go visit with them in the summer .
    I have not seen any of them for over 20 years and it helps that they live far away .

    Haven't seen my relatives in years and don't care to. We grew up close to some cousins and uncles and for some reason they left my family in the past.
