I don't think don lemon's line about women in their prime was offensive?
From the time I heard about what he said, I didn't think it was that bad.
He said Nikki Haley wasn't in her prime, as a response to her pointing out the ages of politicians. He followed it up by saying women were in their prime in their 20s, 30s, and 40s (Haley is 51), which was probably carrying it a bit too far.
I don't follow CNN, so I didn't understand the controversy at the time, but I still don't understand it now after reading up on it. Now that Don Lemon's been fired, I read an article that referenced that it might be because of this line and how "sexist" and "misogynistic" it was and I'm just confused.
I'm not a woman, so it's probably just something I don't get. Did the definition of being "in your prime" change? I feel like if the genders were reversed on this statement, no one would have cared.
That doesn't necessarily excuse it, though, so just wondering. Is it normal to think this just wasn't an offensive statement, or am I sexist?
