I don't want to go to my senior prom. I'm really awkward with dancing and I get too nervous and insecure while doing it even with friends. On top of all this, I'm a closeted gay so I really don't have an interest in taking a girl. All of my friends really want me to go though and I feel like I'll be a loser for not going to senior prom. Should I go or not?
i went to mine and it sucked. i had a horrible time. the only thing good about it was the food and drinks. spent over $100 on a crap time lol. i don't blame you for not wanting to go.
If you truly don't want to go, don't. I didn't want to go to mine, and it didn't completely suck, but it also wasn't that fun, and i wish i didn't spend all that money.
Proms always suck. But why not just ask a boy to go with you? It's statistically impossible for you to be the only gay dude in your class.

believe it or not, Prom is more about spending time with your friends then taking a date or dancing, I spent more time just chatting then dancing. And when I did get up to dance, I danced with other girls more often then with my (male) date.
The stereotypical "prom" seen on tv almost no longer excises. People think of it as junior wedding with Big dresses and limos and the man of your dreams taking you upstairs and popping your cherry. It's not like that.
I suggest you go, but with a group of friends, and not just a designated "date"...
It's alright. I don't want to go to mine either. Just thinking about spending actual $ on a tacky dress that you only wear once, makes me sick.
Well, this is really all based on yourself. If you don't want to go, don't. Your friends aren't the boss of you and it really isn't all that important. If you aren't going to have a good time at the prom it's just a waste of your time.
I shouldn't worry about it. I didn't go to mine, and I think it's perfectly normal. By the time I finished sixth form (The equivalent in the UK) The last thing I wanted to do was to go to the Prom and all the stresses involved. Same old faces, same people, same tired old environment, I was more than ready to leave.
That said, your situation is slightly different. That's something for to decide for yourself. Taking a girl might lead to complications later on. Take a guy. Why not! It could be the start of something very interesting ;)
My advise is to not beat yourself up over it and not to worry. If you really don't want to go, then don't. Not the end of the world.

Mine was awsome I manly say that because we were all seen by everyone at our old middle school 67 people saw that small town there were only 55 people there out of 200 I feel sad for them and I feel sad for you relly if you go it's the best night of your life I'd trade 1000 dollars for it relly not that much of a fee if you hate it you probably were sad but it's epic for the single too they have this line of people I forget what it's called it's not just a couple get together or anything it's a freaking celebration geating 1 awsome kiss is over exaderated it's not just slow dancing haha I loved it and people look foreword to it from age 7 seriously the people in my class alwayse said they wanted to go day before I got 15 asked to go with me and I wasent good looking in any way
Prom was overrated.
There was nothing to do but watching people grind. I was so bored, the most amusing thing about prom was the fact that there were girls smoking pot in the bathroom.
I'm guessing you weren't at prom it's epic your thinking of like 1hour of it that fuckers long and you were probably didnt have a date and even how old are u cause if you didn't have it by the 70s you dont know what you missed
Umm... no, I did attend prom. It's true, I didn't have a date, I went with my friends and their friends- and the majority of them didn't have dates, and they still had a good time.
Just like every high school is a different experience for every person, prom is a different experience for every person. And my experience with prom is that it was dull, boring, did nothing with the supposed "theme" (Seriously, I bought a beautiful, twenty dollar Mardi Gras mask for nothing), and went on for far too long. I'm glad I went because then I would have been the only person ever who didn't attend prom (And it was one of the few times in my life where I felt like I was the best looking person in the room), but there really wasn't anything special about it. At all.
And look, if you're going to say I'm wrong for thinking the prom I went to was dull and uninteresting, the least you could do is, oh, I don't know... use proper grammar and decent punctuation. Cause you are NOT making your case good by typing like you're an unintelligent person.
Go to be with your friends & say good bye to high school. You don't have to dance and make a fuss about it.
