I feel bad when i have to be mean to someone

If I ever have to basically stand up and tell someone they need to straighten their act up around me later on I feel a sense of guilt for it. Even if I was right in what I did and it needed to be done. I just dont like being mean to people. This is a terrible quality to have in my opinion. Its a non-productive weakness. This causes me to usually wait and tolerate behavior from someone until it annoys me too much and I go in too hard.

    “straighten their act up”

You’d better “straighten out” your phrases or they’re not going to listen.

It's normal to feel that way and I do too, even if the person had it coming. I think you just have to tell yourself that you did what you had to and that if they hadn't have overstepped their boundaries with you or taken advantage of you, you wouldn't have needed to be so firm with them. You teach people how to treat you, and that includes demanding basic respect.
