I feel like i regress as i age

Instead of becoming more independent, I feel like I've become more dependent as I grow older. I feel out of my comfort zone doing things like going alone to do grocery shopping and such.

Also, I act incredibly childish towards my boyfriend. The relationship we have seems more like an older brother and a younger sibling. In my past relationships, I never really acted like a child. I'm just wondering if this is normal?
Extra note: I'm an only child. I never socialized much outside school since I stopped caring about people. The friends I've kept contact with are actually online.

This is what happens when you distance yourself from society.

    Loser.

    • Thank you for your insight. However, I couldn't care less about society. I just prefer being alone for the most part.

If you're in your early twenties, perhaps this isn't too terrible or all that abnormal, however it's imperative to move past it with a sense of urgency. The fact that you do things -- however uncomfortable -- that are expected of an independent adult shows that you can. As for your relationship, I think it's better to not be "the child" of the relationship, but also not feel pressure to be overly mature. You should feel comfortable being yourself around your boyfriend and if that's being a little silly, I don't see a problem with it.

i wouldn't listen to some of these posts you should just try to get out into the world more often and try new things by yourself if you can push yourself to overcome simple fears it will eventually go away. personally i still get flustered when i order a pizza over the phone or order food at a restaurant my girlfriend thinks its endearing :/ what im trying to get at is just try to work through it and eventually you will succeed

Dependency personality disorder. See a shrink and get medication.
