I find myself bowing to strangers while walking the sidewalk.

Alot of times when im walking down the sidewalk at my university i pass people who either make eye contact or don't and it can be kind of awkward. If the person makes eye contact or looks like they're about to without thinking about it i find myself bowing to them. I think it started when i began watching alot of korean dramas(I used to be a big anime fan but i didnt have this habit back then)...still is it odd tht i've picked up this habit? I live in Louisiana and ofcourse people dont bow here and there arent alot of asians either. So its really out of place to have such a habit.

That's pretty abnormal. I wonder how they react.

Do you actually stop walking to bow to them?

Is it an actual full-on bow, or is it just a slight nod/lean forward?

With all the auto spelling and what not, you'd think you'd take the time to form a coherent sentence.

I went to an under fundered public school in a poor area and now work as an aged care nurse.

        FUCK ME RIGHT!

If you're that paranoid about avoiding eye contact just pretend to stare straight ahead and ignore people passing by you.

When I say that this is normal, I am not really saying that the behavior itself is conventionally normal-- I am saying that it makes that it seems normal that you'd pick this up by watching other people do it. Now it just comes naturally to you. If you passed me on the street and did this, I'd be lying if I said I thought the behavior itself was "conventional" or "common," which is sort of what "normal" means? But I would probably think you were a nifty sort of person who would probably hold a fun conversation and be friendly. And oddly enough I'd probably be more comfortable and likely to say hi to you than other people I'd passed by. So it's better than normal. :)

This was pretty funny to read. I am someone who is really suggestive to other people's behavior. I pick up movements my friends do, unless I consciously try not to. So in that respect it is normal. I just love the fact that you do this to people you don't even know! haha.
