I find popular tragic deaths interesting

Let me first start off by saying I am in NO WAY a murderer. I dont find any killers as idols or someone to look up to. I think that killing anyone for any reason is absolutely wrong. I have remorse & sympathy for anyone who's lost a loved one for any reason. I've lost a couple of really amazing close people, so I know how awful it is to lose somebody.

That being said, I for some reason, I find myself really interested in reading & hearing about tragic deaths. I've read a lot about the Columbine Killings, which I find the most interesting. Don't get me wrong, I feel so horrible about what happened that day & feel for everyone at that school, but hearing about the motives & how mentally disturbed both Dylan & Eric were, I find it somewhat interesting. Like, to hear about what was going through their mind is so different & strange to me.
I also read a lot about Chris Benoit, Dwain Weston, Sandy Hook Massacre, & anything that I find tragic & sad, yet different to the average happenings.
Am I weird for finding stuff like this interesting to read & hear about?

It's entirely normal to be fascinated by something outside of your own experience.

Simple human curiosity and the need to understand things.

Look at the obsession (here in the UK anyway) with Fred & Rose West, Harold Shipman, Ian Brady & Myra Hindley... There are TV programmes about one or more of these at least once a week.

Oh, yeah, I'd say that's pretty normal. I personally like to watch serial killer documentaries, it's just interesting learning about people who do things I could never understand. Not sure if this applies to you too but maybe it's because we kind of want to to be able to understand why they do it or why these things happen?

I have a similar interest, but it centers around the phenomenon of suicide. I am not suicidal but, I find the whole subject to be extremely fascinating.

Chris Benoit murder suicide was just really fucking sad. I forgot about that and now im sad again. Personally I like unexplained mysteries. Like how you lost your virginity for example.

I think we've all looked up famous serial killers and Darwin awards. Curiosity about death and topics surrounding it is natural.
