I hate that the word 'google' has become synonymous with 'to look up'?

Google are pure evil in my eyes, so it makes me cringe every time I hear anyone use the phrase "I'll just google it" because they're basically giving Google free publicity. I get that it's much more concise than saying "I'll look it up" or "I'll search for it on the internet". And it also specifies that you'll look it up online as opposed to anywhere else, like in a library or somewhere (though who realistically goes to a library to look things up anymore anyway?). But I'd still rather use those obtuse phrases than to promote Google in any way. It also propagates the misconception that Google is the only search engine there is, or the only decent one anyway, which is completely wrong. There are plenty of other search engines that do just as good a job as Google but that won't rape your privacy or pillage your data.

Its the dream of any business for their brand to become a genericized trademark ie a trademark that due to its popularity has become the generic name or synonymous with a general class of product or service. You can hate it but its just what happens. Better off just using a different search engine. I use duckduckgo because they dont track.

Startpage it. www.startpage.com People are linguistically lazy and use brand names to describe actions. Thank you for your superior observance. I hate it when people use "we" in singular form.
