I hate the smell of horses

Often I go travelling to rural areas and small towns, and they often have horses on the streets or on the farms. I don't hate horses, but I hate their smell on average. Whenever I go by a horse area, I often turn up the windows and put on max AC so that the air from outside doesn't come in. Of course, if I spend long enough in the area outside, I get used to it. But still, I do not like the way horses smell one bit. Even cow smell is more tolerable to me.

Is this normal?

Horses smell nice when they're clean! And horse poop isn't really that bad. Dog and cat poop smells far worse.

I do love my cats, but perhaps not their poop.

Oh I don't love the poop, but it's an honor to serve my feline.

    • I'm specifically referring to the countryside ones. I'm not sure about the ones that are kept as constantly clean pets and not farm animals.

Oh. Well ours are kept at a boarding stable. They are outside 24 hours a day but we brush them and ocassionally bathe them. After a ride though, they can get kind of stinky.

That poor rabbit kid is adorable, but the other two white trash rednecks need to be punished for being shitty. I grew up in Texas and I HATE people who talk like uneducated inbreds. Ugh! Poor rabbit.

True that. Actually, I got on YouTube and watched more clips for maybe an hour or more. It was creepy as Hell, but I was strangely mystified and now I kinda wanna see the movie.

However, I can honestly say having lived all over the Deep South that I've never seen anything near as trashy, not even in the Mississippi Delta... well, come to think of it I guess I've seen some weird hicks in Arkansas when we visited it one year to see that stupid diamond mine state park, but I don't see Arkansas as the Deep South.

Anyway, maybe God made tornados, because inbred white trash offend him. I can honestly say the Midwest gives me the heebie jeebies. Seems like humans deteriorate the further inland you go.

I agree that road apples stink. Not all horses smell exactly the same. Some have a muskier smell than others. Overall I think they have a pleasant smell, minus the poop and the farts.

It's not a good smell, but I think it grows on you.

Well, I'm sure some cats are stinky and gross just like some dogs, but my cat is an indoor kitty and I give him baths to keep him fresh.
        :-)

As far as I'm concerned that business about cats washing themselves and not needing baths is untrue. Sure they clean themselves, but dried saliva and dander would aggravate my allergies. If people and dogs washed themselves the way cats do the stench would be unholy and unbearable. I think the key is to start grooming a pet when they're a baby so they get used to it. My kitty lets me wash him because we started when he was 9 weeks old, I also trim his claws and clean his eye boogers. I must confess that I haven't conquered brushing his teeth, but I think we can manage it. He had his teeth cleaned in February and I would like to keep up with that too.
