I have a sister that i don't know

So long story short my dad told me about a year ago he gave up his daughter that he had with another woman when he was 17, up for adoption. I want to find her, but I think my dad doesn't want to because he's scared. But I don't think I could possibly live my whole life without knowing who she is.. How do I convince my dad to find her without being pushy? Tell me in the comments.

    Get your DNA tested by 23andme or one of the other major outfits, and remember to keep your contact details up to date so you'll be notified if someone wants to contact you. It's very common for adopted people to eventually start to wonder who their parents are, and DNA testing is leading to a lot of reunions of unknown relatives. Once your DNA profile is on the database, it's likely you'll hear from her sooner or later.

    In the meantime, I suggest you let it be. This is not just about what you want or what your father doesn't want. There's another person involved here, and it's possible she's very content with her family and not yet aware that she's adopted. Your curiosity doesn't give you the right to track her down and intrude in her life.

    If you want to find her go ahead and try you don't need your dad's blessing for it. Hell he don't even need to know.

    I do to her name Ian Louise as far as I know and I never got to meet her
