I have an issue with my laptop >:)

So, about a week ago I was on a call with my friend and I had my laptop on the stove and we were facetiming in the kitchen so we do this thing where we show our footsies (Don't worry this is part of how I dropped my laptop) anyways my laptop fell I try to catch it but then it fell hard on the ground and it closed shut after I lost my audio then later that night I fixed it but the problem is only one side of my headphones work I was wondering if I can fix the issue myself or if I should go get it looked at.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Why are you even asking it here? This is not a tech support site to deal with your laptop problems.

But like I need an opinion if I should get it looked at or not and plus tech support on my laptop don't even solve my issue xD

It sounds like an electrical connection either in the laptop or in the headphone cable was broken by the fall.

If you've tried other headphones and they also only work on one side, then it's clearly a problem internal to the laptop and someone with technical skills will need to open it up and have a look.

If it's a mac, you'll have to replace the entire laptop.

  • When my things don't work properly usually a good whack fixes it. Go get it looked at

Audio on laptops are complicated because they have a mix of both physical parts and electrical, both are susceptible to damage. With headphones the sound data is usually split between left and right so if you are playing a video game or watching a movie you can judge your surroundings better, obviously the audio wiring for one of the sides has been disconnected, wether it's just a simple wire that was pulled from its place or soldering was damaged. Either way take a lil trip to a repair store if you want it fixed.

i had an asus that had one bad speaker buta course its a prefabricated assembly with wirin & connector & both speakers in one piece

i found one on ebay for 15 bucks put it in and its been fine

lotsa time the audio signal goes thru the headphone jack first so ifya plug into the jack itll stop the speakers so id check there first

(I can't disable my laptop cause it would destroy it and I don't know if anyone needed to know but the brand is Lenovo.)

We'll, take it all apart and see if you have any broken circuits inside. If so just solder them all back together.

Well in the instructions when I got the laptop it said do not take it apart so like I don't know if I should or not.

Do you follow every instruction? Do you always obey the speed limit? They just want to to pay them to work on your equipment. The operative word here is that it is yours. Not theirs. So go ahead and open it up, take it apart and solder away.

I'm pretty sure Jethro is trolling.

If you know so little about computer hardware that you aren't even sure if you should open the laptop up, then you definitely shouldn't. If you do, it's likely you won't have a clue about what a problem looks like, you won't have the tools or skills to fix it, and you might have problems getting it all back together again.

First rule of trying to solve a problem is ruling out the really simple stuff right away. In this case, it's the headphone cable.
