I haven't restrung my violin in almost four years

I only hear a few squeaks here and there, do I need to get it restrung?

Do you NEED to? No. Should you? Probably. Not enough information to make an informed determination. Do you play professionally? Do you only pick it up every 3 years? Are you too poor to afford strings? On and on with the information you failed to provide. It's sort of like you don't really want to receive a meaningful answer.

If you don't get new strings, the old ones could snap and poke your eye out.

I learned to play the violin at age 6 and was proficient by age 10.

      I'm talking about violins.
