I like being digitally anonymous

I like internet privacy. I hate that anything a person posts online attached to a real name and face is essentially permanently published. I hate leaving a history trail online. I like being anonymous. Is that unusual? Compared to my friends, its not very normal. I enjoy stealthiness.

*whisper* There's no real privacy... They're always listening...

Agreed. I don´t mind sharing my pictures but I hate being forced to use my full name on Facebook these days ... there has been a huge number of reports and the second time around I was informed to send a picture of my ID -_-´

It´s not that that I can´t stand for my opinions, because I can but when someone has your first and last name they can easily do a search and suddenly they know your phone number, your adress and THAT is what I find creepy.

I am like that too. I don't use my real name or rather full name and surname on all my social media accounts, it might seem dodgy or paranoid like. I have nothing to hide but even though I am always scrolling through my various social media accounts I like keeping certain degrees of separation between real life and online.

I like your degrees of separation part. Since I myself generally prefer not mixing some social circles. Probably not normal/common but works for me

I feel the same way you do because I really value my privacy as well. For this reason I also can't stand nosy people in real life, unless they're friends. Therefore totally normal.

Stuff and thangs. If you don't get this TV series reference then I feel sorry for you. :P

Hahaha! I never realized Rick said that so much. Hilarious.

I would be terribly uncomfortable having to be a fake, wishy washy person on the web, not being able to express my true thoughts, just to keep anybody from being mad at me or disliking me and doing malicious things to our website, eyc.
It's great that I can be honest and forthright, but I wish that I didn't have to do it anonymously, and it didn't bring so much hate.

This Is Extremely Normal But Unfortunately It's Near Impossible! The Government Reads Ands See's Everything Its Ridiculous But They Seem To Think Its Necessary!

Of course it's normal! In fact, it's a very good custom. :D

  • Exactly. I am in PR, if you mean Public Relations. Its made me think about what image I project. I think its of vital importance to your career. Your boss has people spying on you. They don't want to end up with people that don't fit their culture, or might damage a company's reputation. I've had to look people up. Its not anything secretive. This is all standard protocol for new hires, at least where I work.

  • I love not knowing. Would you want to walk into a new place, give someone your name and realize they already know your life story? How boring. Less is so much more. Stealthiness is for kicks y'all. Be stealthy.
