I like to play pretend when no one is around

I love this! :) When nobody is around, I like to talk to myself in foreign accents (I really like Irish!) and I like to turn on my favorite music and play my guitar in my room as if I'm on stage performing my favorite songs. It's a comforting, fun past-time for me; I've been doing it since I was in like 7th grade. I don't think I'll ever stop - if I do it'd be sad. I have so much fun, I de-stress and relax and take my mind off of the world while I'm in that zone.

I do this too! I pretend that I am trapped in house, and zombies are surrounding my house. I use a hammer as a gun, Ive been doing this since I was 7 or 8 year old. Im 23 now, it makes me happy so I keep doing it. I also pretend a run a crack house were Sell crack through a window like a bank. I use change as money

sounds like fun. i wouldnt go to that extenet(im 21 to) myself but i do have a vivid imagination...i think a few would see it as abnormal becuse of your age but if you do it when no else is around- who cares. plus pretty sure other are like you to...they just don't admit it!

Hahaha, i do something similar. sometimes i pretend i'm on stage so i sing and dance and act out a song. one time i put on a evening gown and pretended that i was on stage doing a bit of jazz/cabaret

I stole my girlfriend's dildo once. In order to use it as a prank in a university play. I replaced one of the sheathed swords with the dildo and a sword handle attached to the end of it.

I wish I could feel as comfortable as you did to play like that. I never wanted to lose my child imagination. I try to keep it by playing sims. I get to have a pretend family and pretend kids. Sometimes I make alien families. Sometimes I make them fight or cheat. Its my dramatic playing. I used to pretend I was sick, and I always had to lay in bed. But I never listened to my parents and would sneak out the house. Good times. Makes me wanna go pretend right now :)

The thing about today's time is that people forget to have play in their life. Or, they don't have the time for it. Play is great for soul and physical.

I don't know if it's normal, but it's good for you. Running round the house, playing loud music, it's all stimulation. It gets your brain and imagination working, and it's so much fun! Fun is good for stress relief.

I am only 16 but my brother is 21 and he is very normal and sound person and he does the same thing. One time I visited him at his apartment and he wanted to play with legos. I try not to pretend play but once a month or so I may find myself shooting terrorists or having epic battles with knights. I have a very vivid imagination.

Uh... the dressing up part is little bit weird though. Never heard that one.

LOL i'm 16 now but everytime i'm by myself i love acting my own stories and characters. I've even acted HSM and pretended i'm my favorite musician or something like that. Didn't know so many people did this.

i do this 2, i create different stories n can carry them for days or even months as if it was a movie or a real story, i do it untill i get bored of it n then i strat a new one..lol

Every time I watch a film or television show, I feel so entrapped in the story, like I'm a character. Started at the theater when I was young, leaving my sit and acting like the hero.

I like to pretend I'm in the year 2585 in galactic war on the planet Nova, a metropolis filled with mega cities. The UNSC (yes I'm unoriginal and steal names from video games sometimes) now has a new enemy: The Galactic Federation. These assholes want to control the galaxy much like the Empire from Star Wars. The UNSC will not have it and fight back. Rewind to 2572. I am a private who quickly rises through the ranks because of his superior intelligence and physical abilities becoming a roll model to his peers. Now a General in 2575 I freeze myself in a Cryogenic stasis pod due to the main enemy of the UNSC, the Maverick Army (a galactic terrorist group), being defeated and I was bored because there was no one to fight. I froze myself for a decade. 10 years later I awoke from my frozen slumber. The admiral of the ship I was on looked older of course. He told me there was a new threat to the Galaxy: The Galactic Federation. That was all I needed. I put on my armor, put in my armor AI, Noah, loaded my laser rifle, and flew off to crack some federation skulls.

You have no idea how much of a relief it is that I found this and all of the positive comments with it. I've been thinking I was absolutely insane. I'm almost 21, a mother and mature... Until nobody else is around. I actually make up this random fantasy world. Most of the time its a different story. I think part of it is I was an only child most of my life. I rarely had anyone to play with so I developed a crazy imagination. lol. Glad to know I'm not the only one out there!

I wear my sweeping black suit and put on some dark glasses. I disable my opponents with a swift chop to the throat. I'm so versed in battle that I leap over the counter and land gracefully like a cat. I walk slowly to the doorway and peer through the window. Coast is clear. I carefully navigate towards my target. Avoiding any possible ramifications to the objective. *puff puff* mission complete.

What's this? The neighbors are outside. I must avoid a visual connection so I crawl by the fence. If I'm spotted.. it's over. I try to balance my scheming with effective action. Time is of the essence. My hot pocket is no doubt cooling within the microwave. There's no secure path. I take a deep breath. I hear the voices increase in tone signaling comical reaction. The level of distraction represented by this tone is an opportunity. I swiftly cross the yard and reenter my dwelling unnoticed.

It can't be much worse than when someone starts dancing around with a mop acting like the handle is a microphone stand.

I do this all the time, but different characters according to my recent daydream themes. It's so much fun. I don't know i really enjoy doing this. So for me it's normal :))

I often pretend that I am talking to people and even play out imaginary conversations. I sorta think that your situation is a little abnormal because you actually dress up and set up scenes but I think it is somewhat cool as long as you don't take it too far and live in a fantasy world for an extended period of time. By saying it is cool, I mean that it would be fun to try and it would help one's creative and imaginitive abilities to flourish.

Yeah I find this interesting. When i'm alone I sometimes talk to myself and when I do i'm creating different characters speaking to one another. Some people would say that this is abnormal, but who cares what others might think. As far as i'm concerned, all it means is that we all have vivid imaginations and an artistic streak in our nature.

Playing pretend is awesome, even when you're an adult. No-one can say what you can't do at a certain age. We live in a free world.

As long as you are doing this in private, and you contribute to sociey you don't have a problem. If you ever teel that you want to so this with others you should consider joing SCA or a similar group.

OMG! I'm so relieved I found this. I'm 21 and play pretend all the time, I guess I just have a lot of free time in my hands sometimes and a big imagination. I like pretending i'm famous and that i'm been interviewed, so I tell all the story of my life and how I got to become famous after a lot of auditions and stuff like that. Or sometimes I pretend i'm in a reality show like that one from MTV "REAL LIFE", and a camera is capturing moments of my life, while I complain about random things.
Sometimes I just put some music on, mostly very dramatic music, and I'm some character from a movie, I like playing Nicole Kidman's character Virginia wolf from "The hours", is so dramatic.
Anyway, I think is normal, I guess i'm still a child in someways, but I don't want to stop this completely, it's somehow relaxing.

BTW, I recently started taking acting classes, I think you should try that, you play a lot with your imagination and get to play different roles, it's awesome!

I don't go quite that far, but I'm always pretending to have a conversation or an argument with people who I feel like I need to say something, but just can't. It helps me feel like I accomplished something in my friendships :P

This is normal. It doesn't matter what age you are, we all like to have fun! Or do what we enjoy. Trust me, I do things like this too. I don't think it's anything as deep as getting out of reality? As that sometimes is the case. People hate reality, and like creating their own worlds where things happen the way they want it to. Which is obviously understandable. Either way, yeah, this is normal. No worries.

This is quite normal if you ask me, I used to play pretend all the time when I was younger. Though maybe 21 is a bit old to still be doing that but its nothing strange or weird. Not like your not hurting yourself or anyone or playing pretend is ruining your life so this is pretty normal i would say.

I do this too. I have a light saber and pretend that im the most feard sith in the univers. Use a toy sword and that im a powerful samuri or warrior. I have a staff and pretend im a powerful mage... that can fly. I have a friend that dose this too and we have jedi battles and stuff. Silly string makes good force substitute.

Oh, that's normal. I used to do that a lot, when I had more of an access to my costume wardrobe. Enjoy it. It's fun.

This is particularly normal, and for me, it helps builds up new stories in my mind if I'm thinking of making a story for movies, book, novel, games etc.

I pretend I'm a paladin helping save not real people in my mind and I don't use props althoung one time I was so into it I ended up smacking a sharp edge of a wall it was a really deep cut and I had to get stiches I tried wiring the next day but ended up killing an evil dragon that I told my self gave me the scar

I do something A LOT like this, although it's a little different because I don't like acting out swordfighting scenes, I love turning up classical music to operas or musicals and, especially next to a mirror where i watch myself, getting really in-deph in the emotion. I used to do ballet, and I sure wish I had continued on with it. I think we all just have huge imaginations. Also, whenever I take my dog outside to go to the bathroom, I dance around my yard. :D

thats completely normal dude ur never 2 old 2 have fun, for example i luv airsoft gun fights and collect the guns. and i even use yard sticks for swords when im bored or run around the house with my airsoft guns and lay out a hostage scenario

I think this is perfectly normal. Some people do this all the time, just in different ways. For example, some women like to dress up in their best looking clothes, high heels, and walk down their halls like they are models.
