I love the human body.

I’ve always loved the human body and I loved incorporating that into my art. However, I’ve always gotten backlash from it because of how young I was when I started doing it. Currently, I’m 18 and I’ve always wanted a nude model so I could really have a better experience with sketching out the human body. I could go on and on about all unique body features I love (violin hips, jutting shoulder blades, etc.) or all the skin tones and marks, but getting to the point, I want to know how ok people are with nudity in art.

You shouldn’t draw naked people. 2
You do you, boo. 9

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Art is an expression, and if you’re not confident in what you want to express, don’t do it.

You should totally go for it! When i was in school my year 11 and 12 studio art folios were all about the human figure and expression through movement and body language, and featured many nude drawings and paintings. i attended a christian school and i got pretty high scores and alot of encouragement from my art teachers, so i really don't think nudity in art is viewed as weird. You should definitley attend a nude drawing class (most classes are generally 18+ anyway, even if they don't explicitly state it, so you would be allowed to attend), as i have been to a few and i learnt so much. if you can't attend a nude drawing class, there are many online reference photo collections for artists that are great for practising proportion and figure drawing!

You are not an artists, you are just trying to get laid.

I am not saying you cannot draw but I doubt that is the main reason for your artwork.

It is kind of like other men who take up any hobby they can and think it is somehow going to get them in the sack with a woman.

Quit wasting your time with drawing and concentrate on dating or at least being a pick-up artist instead.

First of all... I have a boyfriend. Second of all, I genuinely love the human body and I genuinely want to draw people who are consenting and willing to be a nude model for me. If you’re just going to spew your personal problems here then please fuck off.

I don't see why anyone would have a problem with you doing this. Just ignore them and continue your passion how you see fit.

There are many opportunities to get access to a nude model. I'm also 18 and in an art school I've seen and drawn more naked models than I can count. There's nothing wrong with drawing nude people. It's a very important component of learning to draw.

I won't lie, I find it absolutely uncomfortable and out of place. That's my preference. I prefer abstract and natural art - landscapes and the like. Never portraits.

The Internet can help you pursue your life drawing interest. There are sites that have libraries of nude models in various classical poses that allow you to move the pre-recorded camera angle like a live artist would do.

I find everything about the female body beautiful but men, sorry guys, not so much. It's perfectly fine to express your appreciation through art hun. Now that you are of age nothing is stopping you.

Post some of it for the IINrs to see yay.

Go for it. I think the people who matter to you will be fine with it if it’s truly artistic. I love the body too. Several pieces of my wall art and most of my sculptures are nudes. Maybe I’ll see your work some day.

Lots of people are prudes, and there are places in the world where society has a pathological fear of the naked human body.

If you're into art, you should know perfectly well that depictions of the naked human form has been a major theme in Western art for a couple thousand years.

If you want to do life- or figure-drawing, there should be some place you can do this near you. If you live in the UK, you could start with the below link, but there should be similar resources wherever you live.
