I love history and history expeditions...I wish to be an archeologist but my parents wants me to became a software engineer but I hate computer science I hate it to the core..from my childhood I study a lot of history books and even now am doing online courses in history but the only aim for my parents to get me a software engineer job and they wants me to study hard they expects me to take 90 percent in computer science.. its all for the society sake and all my sisters were software engineers so my parents wants me to be like that ...how to avoid this ?

You could just rebel and go off on your own, but there might be a smarter way that keeps you on their tuition dole (assuming they are paying your way). They are focusing on career success, not so much satisfaction. Come up with a good and defendable plan as to how you will make history a viable and successful career. Bolster your argument with the fact that people who love their job do well. Then have a sit down discussion with them. By the way, my Dad tried to get me to follow a particular career path. I resisted and went another way. Turned out he knew me and was right. Wish I would have listened.

Funny thing is that that field is probably nearing saturation levels for employment. EVERYBODY and his cousin wants to sit on their ass and get paid the big bucks for doing fuck all. Big whoop.
They say if you love your profession, you never work a day in your life.
I'd sit my parents down and tell them that they have their own lives to live, just as you do. Tell them flat out that a career as a software engineer just isn't something you want to do. Make them understand your feelings. If they can't, then you have a big choice ahead; your happiness or theirs. As I said, they have their own lives to do with as they wish.

Tell them that it isn't your dream to become a software engineer and that they're wrong to force type to become on. Tell them that your passion is history. Show them all of the great things that can be accomplished through using history.

My family wanted me to be a nutritionist, whereas in my heart I wanted to pursue something else. I held my ground, explain all of the great things that could be branched off and pursued within this career, and I proved myself on how impassioned I was about this. Now my family is on board. Good luck!

We have the same situation there. I want to be a medical assistant but my dad forced me to be a teacher to the core which I couldn't agree as I can't cope with the children. I am not good with children so it would be disastrous as a teacher. Not only it will affect my future profession but it affects the children too. So, I showed deep dislike and how I am not good at dealing with children as best as I can until
my dad "cringed" to the max. Thank god he become an understanding dad so he let me pick my own choice of profession. Try to convince your parents how much you dislike computer science to the max and hopefully they understand how you feel.

OK. You're right though. It's hard to find a person like you who take good care of your parents feeling. Wish you the best.

It's your life, do what YOU want. Ignore what your parents think regarding the job you want to do.

No, no, no. Do what YOU want (which, by the way, is an awesome ambition - I wish I could!). Please. You won't do as well at something if you're heart's not in it, anyway. You talk of your parents' happiness but what about yours? It's your life and they should happy for you and accept your choice. I wish you all the best for the future!

you will regret not going into software if you decide to pursue history. keep history as a hobby and computers as a profession.
