I'm becoming obsessed with upvotes.

So specifically on this site, I've become pretty obsessed with upvotes. Whether someone replies to my comments or not, I tend to go back to posts I've commented on to see if anyone has upvoted what I wrote. Then this leads me to kinda reply in a certain way, like trying to make my reply humorous or something. Is it normal? Do other people here do this as well?

if someone is doing it for fun, then isnt that a good use of time?

isnt joy and happiness purpose-full in life?

I guess if all it takes is upvotes to make you happy you have either a very good life or a very pointless one. I'm just here becos it gives me something to do while I smoke on my breaks.

Yes, it is normal. Probably the best example I can give you is Youtube. People are CONSTANTLY fishing for likes on that damn site.

    • 'Who's watching this in 2016?!' that's 90% of YT comments.

It's normal, though it might not be a very healthy thing to do.

When people don't like the crap I post online, I take it as they hate me.

    • That's a bit much, don't you think? I just get a bit of satisfaction knowing someone agrees with what I wrote or what I wrote made someone chuckle.

It used to make sense back when the site was different. Users comments got more attention back then...
