I'm inclined to read idiotic comment sections online

I'm sure you know about stupid comment sections online. However, when I go on articles/videos that are prone to generating stupidity, I am inclined to read the sections and read every last comment to check if stupidity is present. However, when this happens, it is like seeing a fatal train wreck, and while it deeply upsets me, I cannot look away. Furthermore, especially that comments sections tend to remove their thumbs down feature in favour of thumbs up only system, it is like seeing the deadly train wreck, only you are only allowed to see the people laughing at the victims. Unfortunately, I am the type of person who keeps my mind too open, so because of this, I can feel their stupidity seeping into my mind.

Is it normal to be inclined to look at moronic comment sections?

Of course, when I used to read articles regarding serious or controversial topics and issues, I would feel inclined to read the comments. Now, I don't give them a glance, I know there will be too many negative/ridiculously ignorant comments; keyboard warriors, who aim to provoke or say something that I know I would become annoyed with (ignorance, mostly) I prefer the opinions of people who actually have knowledgeable feedback, even if I disagree. All opinion can benefit the sake of an article, and it's importance.

Debate is healthy, all contribution is valuable, even if you disagree. But being misinformed and leaving ignorant [to whichever topic] "information", can evoke a number of people, which may lead to them becoming misinformed, as well. If you take it seriously, and refrain from using your own research methods.

I always loved to find the comments "hidden due to low rating" on sites like YouTube and yahoo news, they never fail in making me laugh, especially on the latter when it has both thumbs, and it'll have at least 10 green thumbs from fellow trolls.. Now the new YouTube with only upvotes is pretty sucky.. I tend to avoid current videos' comment sections because the stupidity is just depressing..
