Within the next few days, there could be two tropical systems in the Gulf of Mexico. This has not happened since 1959. I live in southeast Louisiana and I'm very happy about this. Ever since I was little I have wanted hurricanes to hit me. I am literally ecstatic right now because it's less than a week until i get a storm. The next names on the list are Laura and Marco. I need at least one, hopefully both, to hit my area directly. I will be very pissed if they both miss me and I get hardly anything. I love rain and storms, so I hate high pressure systems. They always steer the hurricanes away from me! Every hurricane season I say to myself "maybe this is the year we finally get a decent storm!" They way 2020 has been going, it just has to happen!

    I was in Fort Lauderdale, Florida when Andrew hit, and it was awful. I had to evacuate from Houston, Texas when Harvey hit. Believe, or not I still enjoy thunderstorms, but I don't like the damage that hurricanes, and tropical storms cause.

    That is stupid and I herby say that is not normal.

    Both are very dangerous after doing some research what Marco and Laura were.

    I mean, I like storms as much as the next guy, but a lot of people get killed in hurricanes and a lot of people lose everything.

    Anyone who sees a tropical storm or hurricane approaching and thinks only about the adrenaline-rush they'll get from seeing things getting smashed up and thrown around in high winds and the novelty of seeing places they know flooded due to storm surges is either a complete wingnut or they don't own a home or business, they don't need to be concerned about the safety of their family and they don't give a shit about the well-being of the people who live around them.

    The behaviour and course of tropical storms are notoriously difficult to predict more than a few days in advance, but it is possible that Laura and Marco might both end up in the Gulf of Mexico at the same time. They could gain force due to the abnormally warm water in the Gulf, and it's even possible they could merge. If that should happen and if the result should hit where you live, you might discover that the result ain't all that much fun.

    Lots of people in Europe look at news reports from the USA after major storms and wonder why the hell everyone there seems to build their houses out of sticks and plasterboard. Not that the UK has too much to be proud of on this front. Most houses here are a lot more solidly built than American houses, but there are a lot of British homes built on flood-plains, which is a pretty stupid thing to do in such a soggy climate.

    Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana back in 2005-8 right? There was flooding in like a basin of land that took years to fix if I remember right
