I'm sick of everyone bashing boris johnson
Shouting 'Sleaze! Sleaze! Sleaze!' until the masses repeat it like sheep, making accusation after accusation to 'prove' it to the unconvinced, 'white knighting' and crying 'foul' at anything and everything possible.
I suspect that Johnson's accusers are making an example of him for forms of corruption that aren't just specific to him or his party.
Because there's a difference between one party being especially bad, and the background corruption that plagues politics as a whole, and almost always has done. Who hasn't spoken out of turn? Isn't relaxing tax laws to save thousands of lives with ventilators better than letting those people die, and are we going to be so puritanical as to pick holes at this point? And okay, being fronted money by a donor for a home renovation isn't what a leader should do, but if the donor didn't mind and Boris was going to pay it back, is the situation as bad as it potentially COULD be?
Leaders make unfair exceptions for people they like, say cutting things in the heat of the moment, and aren't always careful about appearances when it comes to the management of large sums of donations. It shouldn't be like that, but it is. This sort of thing is as old as the hills!
Now is the wrong time to overhaul centuries of political malpractice and pin it all on one person and party, and shame and blame and whip up hatred and public scandal, for the sake of avenging a personal grudge or winning the next election! We're in a global pandemic and the man needs to do his job with the cooperation of the public, or there will be a lot more 'Tory incompetence' and we'll all suffer for it. It infuriates me how leaders are so selfish that while thousands of people have died and are dying, all they care about is attacking each other and winning votes.
